Finally took care of my alocasia elephant ear! Bought this guy reluctantly from the clearance section, covered in tiny white pests (I suspected spidermites, because of what looked like little white webs in the leaf crevices), and with a lot of damaged leaves. Now after some acclimating time went to repot this guy and found out there were two of them in there! And a bunch of corms too! Sprayed thoroughly with insecticide, hoping they will recover and we'll be able to move them from quarantine to meet the rest of the plant fam:)🌿🪴🌱 (also, any tips for propagating alocasia corms in wet cotton wipes?? Is it better to do it in water or straight in soil ? I've had a lot of success with wet cotton wipes, but any advice would be amazing!! Thanks guys:)

I'm pretty new to Alocasias but from what I've read, they spread through corms? So I have one on one shelf and another on a different shelf. Neither are touching. How in the world did I end up with two babies in a third pot? Again, not touching the other two. They're all on different shelves. I'd appreciate any insight.

Does anyone else have this Alocasia I’m surprised it lasted this long i forget about him all the time and hardly water him and he seems to be pushing out new leaves. Should i cut the old ones ?

Follow up. Here is a photo of the mother plant before it started losing stems. It goes outside in part shade during spring and summer. Last summer it grew a flower for the first time in 4 years I have had this plant.

Please help with my baby zebrina. I separated this from the mother plant last summer. I follow.planta schedule but this leaf will mot uncurl. And top soil feels damp. I will show you photo of the baby and the mother plant. The mother plant has lost almost all stems but for one. Thanks.

Google image search gives me a different answer every time..home depot rescue, trying to figure out her needs... she's actually given 2 more new leaves since I've saved her. If someone can maybe tell me what she is?? Google has told me: Scalprum, Wentii and also Blackjack..??

Can someone tell me what kind of alocasia this is? Picked it up from Lowe’s as a rehab project, that way if it dies I don’t feel bad, and it just said alocasia on it. I’ve also been misting the leaves because she looks thirsty all the time. Not even sure I’m suppose to do that. Any advice helps. Also, those leaves drooping at the bottom have yellow tips. Not sure why.

Hi Alocasia gurus:) Just picked up this little guy from a store, my mom is a big fan of saving plants and was very keen on giving this guy a second chance. I notice damage on leaves, brown/yellow spots, and some strange white spots on spider web-like surfaces, probably spidermites. We took it home, washed the leaves thoroughly and will let this guy sit in quarantine to acclimate for a while. What is your advice? Should we cut off the yellowing leaf? Thanks!

Picked this beautiful lady up from the plant shop the other day and was just wondering if anyone could provide some insight on whether or not this was a good setup for her. When she got here the big leaf at the top was drooping pretty heavily and has since firmed up and stands tall. I’m taking that as a good sign.

wanted to show off my beautiful alocasia babies that i’ve grown from corms. this was my first time growing alocasias from corms and im so happy with all my little guys! hopefully going to sell some to a local plant shop once they’re more mature🥳 and the craziest thing, they’ve been in aquarium gravel since they grew leaves and have been doing AMAZING. i have no plant friends to show this to so i hope someone on here finds this cool!

Looking for help! Relatively new to plants and hoping to save this one. Got her from a big box store on a whim in December and she’s been slowly deteriorating. The center leaf has been slowly yellowing since I got her, had to chop one dying leaf a month or so ago and now another one is on its way out. No new growth at all. I feel like everything I read says something different. Fertilizer, water more, water less, more sun, less sun, etc. I don’t have very bright light in my apartment but my other plants are doing fine with it. Is this “dormancy”? Should I chop all the leaves down back and start over?
