Watering as directed (checking top soil dry) 3rd time using bottled water after I found out tap is bad (Kirkland bottled water) Gets lots of sun (I brought outside to check roots. Usually in front of a window or under my grow light) Roots are short(?) and not mushy Tips are browning and dry but not crispy Did I kill it? 😭
A neighbor “gifted” me these plants. One is a ponytail palm. The other MAY be some kind of orchid. My plan is to plant the ponytail palm in a much larger container because I think that’s part of the issue but if there’s any other advice on how to bring this thing back to life any and all suggestions are welcome. If the other plant is in fact, some sort of orchid, I’ll also repot that with orchid, bark and parallel, and just a bit of soil… If someone has a better idea as to what this plant might be again, any ideas are welcome.
Can someone please help me. My Jamaican Sorrel Hibiscus was doing just fine a few days ago and then it started wilting. Any ideas on why or how to fix it? Thanks in advance!!
Ok is this normal or do I have a dying plant? Today was my fertilize day for my air plant. I just dried it off and pieces started literally falling off! HELP!
Are these mottles on my monstera damage from pests (possibly thrips) or variegations? The mottles are only on one of the leaves, but I’ve wiped the plant down and louped every surface without finding any pests. I got this plant second hand so i don’t know its history, which is why I’m curious. The rest of the plant looks healthy and it’s growing!
Just found thrips on two of my houseplants and I’m devastated. Isolated them from the others immediately (I think the others seem okay), but I’m at a loss. I know this is super hard to treat. Are the plants done for?
I got this as a plug and put it in chin key soil mix, it’s been droopy ever since … should I be worried? Help 🥺
I have never seen anything like this before. I was doing a flush on my Monstera. Watching and waiting for the water to subside, all of a sudden, I saw these little worm creatures crawling up the side of the planter. I have tried to identify them with a bug app and got seven or eight different answers. Google is no help. I was wondering if any of you had come across these things before.
What’s the best remedy for thrips? I bought a String of Rubies plant on Monday and just now found them on her. I’ve checked all my other plants very thoroughly. I didn’t see any on them. But now I’m nervous. I’m very new to being a plant mama, so I want to make sure I correct the problem and not let the infestation affect my other plants. I’ve already quarantined her to another room that has no other plants, but I want to be proactive in preventing my other girls from them as well. What do I do in this situation?
Not really looking for help but I wanted to show off this really cool leaf I found on my begonia jive. Jives are lime green with chocolate brown edges. This one was fully white. The green presence did not occur until after I picked her and accidentally broke the leaf. She was ghost white before she bled. This leaf looks like this bc I watered over it and it got suffocated beneath all of the other growth, never allowing it to breathe or dry. I have never had a plant go ghost mode from damage before. The red is so neat! I never thought abt color theory relating to how plants color themsleves before. She just puts a green overlay on everything
I have these bird's nest snake plants. I divided them once already. They are growing and leaning or getting floppy. What can I do with them? Cut and re-root? Just stake? Help! They are indoors under grow lights.

Oh dear. All of a sudden, my Lemon Lime Philodendron is failing me. It was once full, but I’m losing leaves left and right. I lost a big leaf this morning and one of the stems is brown. What am I doing wrong?
What can I do for this poor plant? She was so full and pink when I brought her home now she’s leggy and not happy looking. The leaves are turning yellow and crispy then falling off. There is new growth at the top but it looks droopy. I watered it yesterday and keep to the planta schedule and it’s in part sun.
Anybody know what causes a sugary water coating on my bird of paradise that I have been washing off and/or this funny texture. I also know I need to repot and am scared so tips appreciated
Hello. This isn't about the norm for this chat. I'm so upset! Some terrible person in the maintenance crew for our subdivision decided to cut my purple spiderwort down 2 weeks ago. It is coming back to life but looks nothing like before. Instead of complaining, this time I sat on my patio with my camera on record sipping my coffee. When the guy came by with his weed waker, he gave me a weak smile and said hello. I don't play about my plants. I work hard to keep them healthy and beautiful. I deserve respect for my property. See the before and after. (Don't mind the gorgeous model on the 1st. ).
Help!! 🥲 I repotted this Monstera from my work (car dealership that’s basically a giant sunroom, it’s the owners monstera) on Sept 15. It was extremely rootbound and bone dry in a pot with no drainage. The roots looked firm/healthy with no obvious rot, i removed most-ish? of the old soil, soaked the root ball, and repotted it into a 12” clear pot with drainage and a much airier mix (same width as old pot but deeper) A week later it started yellowing (probably sooner but I didn’t know till yesterday) At first it was older leaves, but now some larger/more mature leaves are yellowing too, and I just noticed nearly every remaining green leaf has at least some yellowing at the tips/edges. Two leaves went completely yellow and were removed yesterday, and two more have yellowed very quickly today. I ended up bringing it home so I can monitor it more closely. It’s now in my bright sunroom with natural light + grow lights, in the clear pot so I can watch the moisture/root zone. I’ve also added a couple side ventilation holes and a fan for gentle airflow. The lower mix is still holding quite a bit of moisture, so I haven’t watered again. Does this still sound like transplant shock from being severely rootbound for so long? Photos show the repot and yellowing progression (idk why the pic makes the old pot look bigger than the new)
Haaalp my money tree is acting weird and I truly can’t figure out if it has too much light, water, or too little light. It’s kinda deep in a basement so it has a grow light but I think the burning on the leaves is bc there too much light so idk what to do. Anything helps sorry if it’s obvious but I can normally diagnose my plants bc I suspect there spot is the problem but here idk what it could be.
