Hello all!
My husband recently bought a dendrobium orchid for me and I’ve never had one before! We just noticed it had these dark spots on the stem and have no idea what they are. Google says black rot? Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated! It sits at a southeast facing window and we have a humidifier on that shelf.

Please help! Is my orchid rotting?! We bought it in February it was beautiful full of flowers leaves and they repotted it for us. It’s lost almost all its flowers and now only one leaf. This window gets a good amount of light and we’ve tried adjusting the watering schedule. When the leaves fall off they look perfectly healthy :(

I’m not sure where or if I should cut my healthy green blossom stems after they’ve finished blooming? Any cutting tips out there?

The woes of orchid rescue, amiright friends? 😂
My phal has some roots, but not as many as I’d like and instead seems to want to grow leaves. How do I encourage it to grow roots instead. It’s in orchid bark with a leca drainage layer and a fluffy moist spagnum top dressing, and a clear orchid pot. It’s kept under a decent grow light and roots are green one is kind of yellow most of the time they don’t get too silvery I think the bark may be retaining too much moisture for my environment but surely that’s no reason for it not to grow roots right? More info: fertilized foliar-ly bi-weekly with gublers pro, and the temp is kept 60-75f.

A friend had a bunch of uncared for orchids that I offered to take a try to rehabilitate. Any advice for what to do with this on? I don’t know what these spots are! They were all taken out of severely drenched potting materials and given a good root trim yesterday and I’ve quarantined them from my others. Would love some advice from more experienced orchid growers! Thanks!

I have two moth orchids that I want to plant together in the same planter … anything I should consider before doing it? Any different needs to consider for 2 in 1 pot?

Hi! I’ve been thinking about planting some orchids from seed, does anyone know what type of agar you need to have, also, does anyone have any beginner resources on growing orchids from seed

Planta told me my orchids were under watered which I find hard to believe because I soak them for a couple of hours once a week and I thought orchids didn’t like water that much.
Any advice for the poor ladies? Not sure if you can see it in the picture but some leaves look like they’re rotting and the. Some are really soft, droopy and wrinkly

My stelis tricostoma orchid isn’t doing to well,it didn’t like being in orchid bark so I switched to sphagnum moss and it’s still not doing well, the leaves are going to keep dying and I might loose this one😕All my orchids are doing great except for this one.

Just repotted my orchid. Initially it was drowning in the last pot with no drainage (I had no idea). Bought proper orchid mix and a pot with lots of holes. It’s now looking worse and I don’t know if it’s under or over watered or if there’s something I’m missing. Please help!

Hey, I have just put Sphagnum moss just on the top of my orchid that's in bark. I thought it would look nicer than bark when/if it starts growing. I am wondering if anyone else has done this before or if anyone knows if it will work? Thanks!

All right you brilliant knowledgeable community, I need your help. This is my incredibly vigorous zygopetalum- the newest leaf from the (blooming) immature growth has all these black spots on it. I suspected they were caused by water trapped in the tight layers of the pseudobulb as it was growing and watered haphazardly in the nursery. The leaf with only a few of these spots had them when I bought the plant- it was then the most recent growth. Then there is the newest growth that *seems* problem free so far. So… for any of you that have dealt with this type of orchid, or these spots before… are they bacterial or fungal? Are they caused from water droplets trapped in the growths? I don’t *think* they are active infections, nor do they seem to be spreading or increasing… but ARE they active? Do I have to treat with a fungicide? 😬 Is it something that’s going to spread to the healthy new growth, or now that I’m caring for it properly, will the new leaves be less unsightly?

What do I do once my orchard flowers die?

Two new babies: phalaenopsis violacea and cymbidium sinense.
Wish me luck, or provide advice—whichever you like!
Plant Lives Matter
Hey y’all, I have this dendrobium that overall seems healthy if maybe a bit over-sunned. Long story short, this was intended to be a short term placement for it during some home improvements we’re doing, so eventually it will go back to its home with less light. In the meantime, it has developed this, but I’m not sure if it’s some sort of pest or a sign of too much light. Or maybe it’s part of its natural cycle. Those black spots are hard, not scraping off. Can’t seem to find anything about this online. Anyone seen something like this before? I don’t want to make any further changes to its environment unless I have to.

Oncidium ‘Jiaho Queen’
I love coming back from a long business trip and find blooms. Especially a first timer! I bought this plant as a seedling and have been waiting (im)patiently for it to bloom. Such a cool flower and pretty big for an oncidium🙀

Hi I’m kinda new to all this and I was kinda looking for a little advice? I just bought a moth orchid from Menards and I’m not sure if I should repot it and what type of soil is best. Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Guys I’ve just noticed my dendrobium noble flower cane has split and half detached so Ive heard you can propagate by the cane or leave it to try grow some kiekis.
What do you think would be my better option? It’s nearly lost all its blooms maybe 2-3 flowers left I’ve noticed the split cane yesterday but can assume it’s been like this for a couple days
