I might need some advice with these bachelor button seeds.
I wanted to get ahead of the game by germinating the seeds via the “paper towel method” but a week has passed with zero chance in the seeds. Any recommendations? Or should I just put them straight in a pot with soil?

I snipped these to make room and spent a few days deliberating whether to toss them, follow up with a flakey Facebook buyer, or build an Empire of Glauchids. The last one is the default and requires very little work as long as I keep my fingers clean.
$10 well-spent on this trashy, awesome science project.

Propagating Iresine
This is a cutting and clearly it isn’t happy. It doesn’t seem to be dead and the other Iresine I have is dramatic, so I’m hopeful it’ll come around soon. I read that you can prop these in water or soil. I did water with the first one and it did die and this one I’m trying soil.
Any tips / suggestions for propagating these cuties? They’re one of my favourite plants! Thanks!

HELP!
Hi there! I found this little guy I’ve named Wes in terrible condition and I’m trying to rehydrate and nurse it back to health. Planta experts noted I could try to propagate the top portion. (Please note, I am a beginner in all things plants/cacti) I have never tried to propagate anything before, could anyone shed light on how I should proceed?
Thank you for taking the time to read/share advice!

Thank you!

A friend gave me some cuttings of her rhaphidophora tetrasperma and I cannot get it to root. Yesterday I cut it to make smaller cuttings to see if it would help. I read that this plant should be easy to prop so I don’t get it. Any advice ?

What's your opinion on taking a plant clipping from a Lowe's or Home Depot?

Hi plant people! As a plant newbie, I want to say thank you for all the advice and help you give us new plant parents. Personally, I love having a community that helps and gives advice. Yeah, there’s Google and places like Better Homes & Gardens, but you never know what you’re going to get there. So thank you!
Now, onto my newbie question. I’m trying to propagate a Hawaiian spider plant baby in water. It’s juuuuussstttt starting to root. My S.O. put in some bars in the kitchen so I can hang plants. I know propagation needs a lot of sun, but could I place my water/baby plant in a north facing window on a little hanger? Currently, the plant is in an east facing window on the kitchen table, but it’s trying to get any sunshine it can through a forest of plants in front of it (essentially). I wondered if it would be better to move it to a north facing window where it can get all the light that comes through (I know it’s not much) instead of scattered east light where it fights for sunshine. Would that be better for it? Any thoughts or opinions?

Can I propagate this cactus by cutting the top off and starting over? It falls over and is looking bad but the top is very nice.
Also does anyone know what kind it is?
Thanks

How often does rooting hormone have to be applied?

I was eating avocado toast when i suddenly wanted to experiment 😂 I wrapped the pit in a wet paper towel and placed it in a baggie, I placed it in a warm dark area and now I have no idea what to do with this little tree thing growing in my room. Any tips?? (Currently growing the roots in a small clear glass)

I was gifted this beautiful umbrella tree that is now 6.5’ tall. There’s a piece at the bottom that I want to separate from the mother plant but I’ve read that propagating umbrellas don’t always work. I don’t want to lose a mature, healthy, beautiful cutting. Should I leave it? Or do you have any tips to help me succeed? Fairly new plant mamma over here.

I took some leaves from two succulents that were getting too tall, I set them up Dec 15, but have yet to grow roots or any other signs other than calluses. For context: they have a grow light and I’m very frugal with giving them water, if I do water I use a water dropper to the soil, no misting.
Am I just being impatient with these little plants or any tips on what I might be doing wrong? Thanks!

Does anybody have tips for propagating string of hearts? Is soil or water better?

First time growing an avocado seed. I placed it in a ziplock baggie wrapped in a damp napkin I left it in the dark for a couple months and after it sprouted roots I placed it in water for a few weeks now. I’m so happy is finally growing a leaf. *Proud momma*

Hi Planta Community!,
A few weeks ago I noticed my White Birds of Paradise plant was having one of their simple fix issues. The new leaf was not unfurling after 3 weeks. Just today I decided I was going to do the wet cloth method and help it unfurl. When I arrived to my BOP location the leaf was on the ground, i checked for pests and I don’t see anything with the naked eye. I do have a gnat problem in the area. But my BOP is a little dehydrated too. I have two questions for you guys:
1. What do you think happened, why is the leaf separated?
2. Can I propagate the leaf?
Thanks in advance,

Hello! New to plants (keeping them alive at least!) and propagating! I have this pothos cutting that I have had in water for over a month and finally saw these roots this morning! Any advice as to if I should continue keeping them in water or should I try plantains in soil? Thank you!
