I picked up a variegated Frydek a few weeks ago, and she’s been thriving! A couple of new leaves already, with two more on the way. She’s starting to look really full in her little pot, and the leaves are beginning to crowd each other. She is in a 3" self watering pot. For those with more Alocasia experience: does this look like multiple plants growing together? I’m not sure if I should separate them or just move her into a slightly larger pot. She’s so pretty, and I’d hate to stress her out if separation isn’t the right move. Open to any advice — still new to Alocasias and learning as I go! 🌿💚

I almost gave up on this genus, after unaliving 3 Jacklyns, 1 Melo, and 1 Maharani! Fortunately, I stepped out on faith with this beauty! The fact that she has 5 leaves still! Wow! I’m so proud! 🥹

Went all in on some new large indoor plants. My home has a lot of beautiful natural light & the white walls were screaming for some large living plants! Would love any tips you have for keeping these beauties alive and thriving, or if you see anything concerning please give me your advice. The large elephant ear looks like it needs to be thinned- but I’m scared to chop. I have some smaller hydroponic house plants that do well, but large plants in soil scare me. Have grown successful large outdoor gardens in the past!

Need help with my Alocasia Yucatan Princess😭 she was gifted to me I noticed the soil was very dry so I watered her and added liquid fertilizer. The leaf was already changing color and stem droopy. Today woke up like this. She has 3 leaves (one of them is just opening up) and this is the only leaf that looks like this

I think my Alocasia hybrid has officially gone dormant or entered the preparatory dormant phase; what should I do to get her back out of dormancy and make her happy? Thanks in advance! Background: I don’t know what kind of Alocasia this is exactly because it was mislabeled as a philodendron at the store and I’ve never found an exact match for it online. So, it might be a unique hybrid, but bonus points if you happen to be able to identify it! After struggling a lot to keep up with plant care last year, she naturally started to decline. About 4-5 months ago, I got back on track with things and started trying really hard to get this one thriving again. She dropped all but 2 leaves due to underwatering, but the remaining leaves looked good until they started going pale in color a few months ago. She was also reaching for more light and looking leggy, so I added a grow light about 2 months ago, but I still haven’t seen any progress and the leaves seem to still be paling in color. She lives in a north-west facing window where she has a wide view of the sky but never gets direct sunlight and she now currently receives about 800 foot candles (FC) for 12 hours/day. This stopped the reaching but no other visible improvement. I’m considering increasing the light to get closer to 1000 FC, but haven’t done so yet. I aim to water when the top 25% of the soil is dry and test the moisture first with my finger or a toothpick. I used to just fertilize with full strength any time Planta told me to, but about 2 months ago I started using weakly diluted fertilizer with every watering and then flushing with distilled water about every 4-6 weeks. However, if it’s dormant should I not be using fertilizer? I use dyna-gro foliage pro liquid fertilizer. I used to do just normal tap water because my tap water quality is really good, but I switched to distilled water recently just in case (not convinced this actually matters though 😅). She’s in a soil-free mixture of coco coir, coco chips, perlite, horticultural charcoal, and worm castings. She does have a humidifier but I’m not 100% consistent at keeping it filled. I’m going to start making a point to refill the humidifier every morning so it’s more consistent. I sealed off the window where she lives to prevent cold drafts and it consistently stays about 65-70 degrees where she lives and I make sure the leaves don’t touch the cold window glass. I last repotted her several months ago into a plastic nursery pot with plenty of drainage and at the time the pot was not quite 2” bigger than the size of the roots. I’ve checked for signs of pests but haven’t seen any thankfully and I do clean the leaves regularly. I know that was a lot of info- thanks for reading it all if you got this far!

HELLLPPPP what do I do??? It used to have roots but I think it went dormant when it lost its only leaf and then stopped absorbing water and the roots rotted off…the rhizome is firm but I don’t know how to salvage it?? Should I prop in water??

I thought her 3rd leaf was big and the 4th leaf said "hold my beer."

HELP!! My sting ray Alicia’s not done well since I had to bring inside from the cold. She continues to wilt and droop. What am I doing wrong 😑

I had to do a HARD prune on my plant, because its previous leaves were turning yellow and to save the ENTIRE plant I had to cut them. I have three what you call, “dormant buds” that look like they are trying to form stems. Ugh…this is THE slowest plant growth I’ve EVER experienced in my life 😩 🪴

I’m new to the “heart break hotel” as my best friend keeps telling me, she swears it’s just because of the humidity in her house…soo on to the manic episode I continued. Later down the rabbit hole i have a verigated black stem albo corm doing wonderfully I have a mint dragon scale baby also doing amazing a mystery one because I can’t remember what it is lol but then there’s…….. My Mickey Mouse I got him off of coldandcozy on what not I love him and it shipped and arrived amazing!! However this is is the temperamental I’ve had him for a week any tips on how to get him to acclimate I have moved things around trying to find him the perfect spot in the house is but I don’t know where that would be

My regal sheild has been nonstop flowering for about 2 months! How can I tell when it is putting out a new leaf or if it is going to be a flower again?

Any ideas on a possible ID? Thanks in advance!

This plant used to be ginormous however all of the leaves started turning yellow around the edges. At that point I thought it was too big and it needed a repot which I did then that turned into a different mess. Now, the leaves are starting to turn yellow again and there are negative zero signs of pests. I water ALL of my plants using using Superthrive Foliage Pro which does contain Calcium and Magnesium, however it has been suggested to added calmag to it. Im scared that would be too much fertilizer. Does anyone have experience qith this? The plant is in pon which sits in a water reservoir. Ambient Humidity sits around 50%-70% with dips down here and there. I check regularly for pests as well as spraying them with 70% rubbing alcohol once per month for prevention. Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated

Does anyone else feel such a big sense of success as a plant parent (especially an Alocasia plant parent) when their plant puts out more leaves? I found this today and I’m feeling very happy and successful. I’m happy to know it’s thriving and gifting me new growth.
