HELLLPPPP what do I do??? It used to have roots but I think it went dormant when it lost its only leaf and then stopped absorbing water and the roots rotted off…the rhizome is firm but I don’t know how to salvage it?? Should I prop in water??
Absolutely! A couple of months ago I had a branch that fell off my allocasia (my Amazonian as I call her!), and did the same thing you were doing… I called HELP! I didn’t have the slightest idea what I should do. I was told to put the corm in water, which I did, and after many months, this little corn with a stem, grew roots, and then I transferred her into PON. As you can see, she’s doing just great! I should mention that I use an additive called Clonex, which helps with transplant shock. (I just use it for the initial transfer.) Best of luck!
How deep in water should I put it? I’m just so nervous about killing it accidentally, I’ve had the worst luck lately!
1 like Here’s a pic of a couple branches of my “Amazonian” that I am propping. Really all you need to do is have the corm covered in water, so just choose a glass that will suit the corm. I found that it took many months for my corm to begin producing a branch, so be prepared for a long wait. If you have any more questions, be sure to ask.

I think if that were my corm, I would put the entire thing in water, but let’s wait and see if there are any additional informative comments, OK? Best of luck, and remember, be patient. As long as that corm doesn’t get soft, it just takes a long time for it to produce a branch. I’d like to hear when that happens, and maybe take a picture. I would love to see a stem coming out of that corm of yours. TIA!
1 like PS. If that corm were mine, I would gently pull off any of that old material on the outside of the corm that is dead.
