I planted a ton of sweet and purple basil this year thinking I would give away what didn’t go in my garden for pest control or the herb garden. Turns out I’m harvesting it regularly to use and it’s producing enough to the point that I’m trying my hand at oven drying. I live in a humid area so air drying is really difficult so hopefully I don’t waste what was essentially a “bushel from the grocery store’s” worth of harvested basil today. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

This is my 2nd harvest 🎉🥳 I did not think I would do well at all on this plant (bought it from a tiny festival)! I watered my whole garden before I left, hoping it would rain. If it did, it was only a tiny bit because some have withered a good bit, but it seems not others like my Cocozelle Zucchini! They are as long as my forearm ❤️ :0

Has anyone had success sterilizing peat with hydrogen peroxide? I need to sterilize it because i'm having problems with damping off. I'm making a very small batch, so i'm not too keen to use boiling water, but if i have to i will do it.

Hi all, I am pretty new to gardening, and I planted garlic last fall, it has taken off! However, my plan was to companion plant tomatoes between the garlic, but the garlic is so large it will affect the growth of my tomatoes, any suggestions? I was thinking about cutting the leaves. P.s. the garlic is hard neck, as I am in a cold climate (Canada)
Very new to all this!! Would highly appreciate a few recommendations of indoor vegetation. I live in Toronto and in a building so most of the year it’s cold to leave plants in the balcony. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Hello! I am new here! I am starting a garden for the first time this year and I’m having a bit of trouble keeping my seedlings starts growing and staying healthy. Anybody have any advice, suggestions or ideas on how to keep these little ones growing strong and healthy? Thank you so much!
Veggie/Fruit Garden Update! I’ve had these plants for almost a month now and I’m really proud with how they’re growing with this being my first garden. But I do still have some questions: 1. My strawberry plant is the first plant in the garden to produce some type of food. It’s an everbearing variety of strawberry and I noticed the fruit a couple days ago. My main question is that I do not know if it is ready to pick or what to look for to know when it is ready to pick? 2. I planted my bell pepper plant in a large red container with no drainage holes without thinking about water collection. I ended up giving it too much water yesterday and I’m expecting more rain this week. I wanted to put it in a smaller, white container about half the red pots size that my okra were in since they unfortunately did not make it. I’m not sure if this is a good idea since it’s already grown a little, but I would like some advice. I also noticed that it started growing peppers on it today and that it had an infestation of these small, white caterpillars. I’m not sure what species they are, but I believe that they’re eating my plant’s leaves and would like a natural way to deter them from my plant. I’m a little scared to move it to a new container with the caterpillars because I don’t want it to get weakened by stress and get eaten at the same time. 3. I bought an okra plant with all my other garden plants and planted it in a small white container. I gave it full sun with my other garden plants, but I noticed them getting weaker and weaker until they died. It’s possible I overwatered them, but I’m not sure. Any advice on growing okra for next year? 4. On a plus side, my cucumber plant has grown twice as big as when it was first planted in its container. I’m especially proud of this one since I thought it wasn’t going to make it when I first planted it. 5. My cherry tomato plant has also grown exponentially since it was first planted. It started flowering yesterday so hopefully I’ll get some tomato growth soon.
I posted before mother’s day about my blueberry bush, and now I have soooo many plants! Fun fact about my patio snacker cucumber! It looked really sad when I bought it. I transplanted it in a bigger pot. I wasn’t sure it was going to make it because the stems were extremely weak almost completely breaking off. I did my best to make it healthy. It’s thriving now! I can’t believe I saved it! My blueberry bush has new growth, and my strawberry plant was also sad when I bought it.
My bush beans are looking a little sad :( I moved them to a larger pot and really tried to take my time to untangle the roots. They were doing so good, I was really excited about the potential harvest. I don’t know what to do about them. Will they recover, are they just stressed from being moved?

Wait...is this actually a zucchini I see growing out? After 54 days/3 weeks of nothing, then a month of 12-10-5 fertilizer and flowers falling off? Are we actually *suc-seed-ing*?! (I for real can't tell though, let me know if this is a baby zucchini on the way pls...)
I harvested my potatoes today 😭 I think I waited way too long this was all there was. 30g of potatoes. I’m still glad I planted them and I do want to try again. But this was a wee bit discouraging. Any tips for the future would be awesome! These were baby potatoes planted Feb 15. 10 of them were planted in the featured pot. No fertilizers were added except for organic matter at the very beginning.
Seeds keep sprouting then dying, unsure if I’m overwatering or under watering. Planted with soil specifically for this. Full sun area. I water them every 3-4 days as recommended by the app. The stems sprout, and then dwindle down like this.
Pillbugs are eating all my strawberries. Does anyone have advice on how to get rid of them? The strawberries are in a raised planter
