What do you guys think is the best medium for growing alocasia corms? Iāve tried unsuccessfully in water (took 6 months for the first leaf to sprout, then I forgot to refresh the water and it died). Iāve got some variegated alocasia Frydek corms coming in January and I want to give them the best start possible.

the two windows i have (north and south) for my plants are constantly blasted by the heat/air vent above them, should I place my humidifier closer to my plants? i don't have many high places and I worry putting the humidifier too far away won't help them. where should i put it?
