So about 6 weeks ago I purchased a “lucky” bamboo at IKEA, on the way home it had an altercation with other purchases and snapped cleanly in half. The top half went into water and now has roots.. the bottom half with the original roots has done nothing..will it ever put out leaves or am I wasting my time?

you might need to get some keiki paste to activate the nodes if there are any, i'm not an expert on bamboo but that's what i would do with any other bottom cut

The bottom one might take longer, just put it in a jar with water and just wait, sometimes the roots come out fast and sometimes they just need so time

It’s possible it will put out a new shoot! Mine took a couple years but it did 😆

It will eventually grow a node leading to leaves. I had to save this one from dying about 6 months ago, he’s doing fine. Hopefully in the next 6 months I have a leaf lol
