Picked up this Chinese evergreen at Walmart about a month ago. It has brown tips even on new growth I started watering with filtered water and adding fertilizer, but I’ve seen no improvement any tips?

Help! My nephew snapped one of the stems to my Elephant Ear 😢 do I cut both stems where it broke or it there a way to propagate from this point?
