Hi all! Struggling with my lovely Calathea. Top down it seems to be doing okay, but then if you look underneath all the lower leaves are browning one by one, and I haven’t seen any new growth. Any ideas what might be wrong? It’s so hard to tell if I’m overwatering, under watering, have too much light, not enough light, etc. I also thought it could be pests but I’m not seeing any, and I live in a pretty new insulated apartment building. Thoughts?? I welcome any advice!!
This plant is such a diva! I have tried everything and she is looking better! I just watered and cut off some yellow edges. Now I saw this brown trail under a leaf. It doesn’t look like a pest or scales. Is this normal? Any tips on this needy girl? Thank you!! 🙏
can someone please give me tips on propagating a prayer plant. i’ve tried one time in water & failed
Brand new plant mom here. I got this one a couple days ago and the person I bought it from told me to put rocks on the bottom of the pot for drainage. Is that okay? Anyone have recommendations for me just by looking at this one?
I’m not sure what’s going on with my plant. I’ve had it since September. I bought one with it and it died of fungus. They were right next to each other. Could this one have a fungus as well? It gets bright indirect and I’m consistent with the watering schedule. I’m not sure what else there is to do. Please help.
It’s my first prayer plant and mine looks like it’s all droopy compared to others. Am I doing anything wrong? Or am I just being paranoid and my plant is doing okay? I have a grow light on this shelf where it’s at. And, I water it once every week-ish. It’s sitting on top of pebbles with some water on it to keep the moisture higher.
My rattlesnake plant is starting to get some droopy leaves. Not sure if it has something to do with the lighting because this seemed to happen when I got my new shelves for Christmas and moved all my plants around. The grow light is not directly on it but it does still get a lot of the light on the side closest to the lamp. I have a humidifier going for my plants and according to my little meter it’s at 50% right now. And it says that the temp in my house stays around 69 to 70F. Not sure if that’s too chilly or the proper humidity level. I have had a consistent watering schedule since I got her so I don’t think it’s that. And it’s been treated for pests recently just to be safe because it was near another one of my Calathea plants that had spider mites. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
I went on vacation for 3 weeks and had someone water my plants but when I came back home my one of babies looks like this!! All the leaves are curled up! I watered her yesterday but I don’t know what else to do to help her. I lost my peace Lilly while on vacation and I don’t want to lose her too 😩 helpppp
I saved sweet Mara from Home Depot in October (she only had 7 leaves) and look at her now! I’ve never had one that grew so fast!
I love this plant so much and struggle with it even more. Every time I get a new leaf, I lose one. I moved it closer to my humidifier yesterday. I sat down beside it today and saw a stem was snapped in half. There goes another one!
I love the colours on these so much, even if I did give it brown spots because I used tap water 😂. They’re so fussy!
I brought this Calathea back from the dead about 6 months ago. But now, it’s really struggling again. It’s in the same environment—indirect light, humidifier, chunky soil (although it seems to be holding onto moisture more since the seasons have changed). Any suggestions for what else I can do? I thought about moving it to LECA, but the last time I tried that with a different Calathea, it did NOT go well.
Update on my Calathea: It’s definitely not dead! New leaves are slowly growing. I’m just not sure what to do with the old, sad leaves. I tried pruning the crispy bits off as per some advice I got from YouTube but now they’re still curling and crisping even more. Should I cut off the whole leaves or leave them because parts are obviously still photosynthesizing? Any advice?
I put my maranta in PON 2 weeks ago and it doesn’t look like it’s happy. It has curly leaves a lot of the leaves have turned brown and crispy. Has anyone else transferred their maranta to PON? How is it doing? And did it throw a fit at first? Side note it did get cold here in the PNW.
Hi! I could use a little help on what to do with this guy. I’ve had him for a few months and he’s super happy and has popped out four new leaves and is working on another one. However, all this new growth is coming from the same node (shown in pictures) and now he can’t hold up that branch. For the time being, I’ve staked it to take some stress off. I’ve heard that prayer plants can be sensitive to changes in winter, and don’t know if a repot would be good. He has a root that is also growing from that node, wondering if I should try to propagate the node, but I don’t want to end up killing the plant. Any advice would be helpful!
Should I cut these two leaves & stems off? They don’t seem to ever move and are just hanging off the side so I’m not sure if it’s worth clipping.
EDIT: okay story time, I’ll try to keep it short lol. I used to bottom water her until one day I fell asleep & she was sitting in water for hours. I didn’t water her fully for over a week after that bc I wanted the soil to dry out. It’s been about a month and a half since that’s happened & it just seems like the soil is really moist on the inside. I stuck my finger about 2 inches in the soil (haven’t watered her in about 9 days atp) & it was still moist there. So basically I’m wondering if I should remove some soil to look at her roots & repot with new soil orrr if that’s not a good idea bc she will just get stressed & im overreacting since she still looks okay & is putting out new growth so this shall pass? Can someone tell me if this means I overwatered her or if this means she might have root rot? I’m worried about depotting her to check bc she’s a drama queen lol she’s still putting off new leaves but they aren’t as green, one kind of looks yellowish. HELP SHES MY BABY GIRL

My first prayer plant. I’ve had this guy for a few months now and after a few weeks of having next to a cracked east-facing window I realized it didn’t like the sun or the draft. I’ve moved it out of direct sunlight and closed the windows now that it’s starting to get colder but it’s been in its new spot for a few weeks now and it doesn’t seem to be improving. I tried a few things for overwatering as well more recently. I’m only giving tap water at the moment but misting every few days and now watering only when the soil is dry. Can it recover or did I kill this plant?
