I am absolutely DEVASTATED 😭💔 My 30-strong Calathea collection has somehow ended up with spider mites, thrips AND mealybugs. I honestly don’t know whether to laugh, cry, or move house at this point! 😂😭 I’ve now had to set up three separate quarantine zones — one in each of my bathrooms with the baths filled with three inches of water for humidity and another in the spare bedroom with a humidifier — and I’m literally changing my clothes in between going into each area to treat the different batches. I feel like I’m running a tiny high-security plant hospital! 🥲 The worst part is that my newest plants had been quarantined for four weeks. I checked them regularly and there were absolutely no obvious signs of pests. I genuinely thought they were clear and started introducing them to the collection. Then, about two weeks later, I started spotting signs… and now I seem to have pests showing up across the collection. 😭 I’ve got plants covered in different combinations of spider mites, thrips and mealybugs, and I’m currently trying to work out the best treatment routine without completely destroying the poor Calatheas in the process. I knew Calatheas could be dramatic, but I really didn’t expect them to form a tiny organised pest syndicate behind my back. 😂 Has anyone else survived a pest outbreak on a large Calathea collection? What actually worked for you? I would LOVE to hear your treatment routines, quarantine tips and success stories because right now I need some hope! 🌱😭

Help, please!! This is one of my first babies and for the past month she hates me. Before then she was doing great. It’s been humid, I keep a pebble tray under her, and check her soil daily.

When I brought this prayer plant home 2 months month ago, I had its health listed as BAD. It was drooping and it had brown leaves. Since then it’s grown several leaves and right now it has four new leaves unfurling!!!

Hey planty people, I’ve been trying to rehab my moms Goeppertia orbifolia, but since being in my care she’s pushed 2 damaged leaves, and is working on another. I moved her into higher humidity and still the newest leaf is coming out with black tips😭😭😭😭 I’ve recently started treating the water with API stress coat, and fertilizing her with every watering. She’s gets some good partial sun in the late afternoon, all day ambient (in a shady part of the room), and she’s in her own display box for humidity. Any tips would be greatly appreciated 🙁 Update!!: after keeping her in a controlled environment for a couple months (display box for humidity) she’s doing amazingly!! Look at her now 🤩

Question! How many maranta prayer cuttings would you put in one pot? I have 6 cuttings. I want a bushy look, but want a thriving system, not overcrowded roots fighting for nutrients. Thoughts are appreciated!

Guys I got her to bloom! I got her from my grandfather's funeral, and I was able to repot and nurse her back to health. It's so good to see that she's thriving!

Just thought I’d share my Rattlesnake! I’ve had this plant for about 16 years (when I was only 17). Got it from the grocery store as a tiny baby. It closes up every night and the leaves move and make noise during the day. It’s truly a member of the family 😁

Cut my prayer plant completely back months ago, ( hubby left the heater too close 🫪🤦😤) and even though it's only got a few baby leaves growing back it popped a flower how funny of course I clipped it off so it will produce more leaves but it's so beautiful I wish I didn't have to 🫶

I think I must like the abuse... but this gorgeous girl arrived in the mail today from Etsy. Let's hope she takes encouragement from her other Calathea friends.
