I am new to the group. I’ve been reading all your post and getting info from YouTube. I brought home this lovely and as I got ready to repot and found lots of roots all balled up and trying to figure out what is next. Any advice? Thank you all in advance.

I just got this Phalaenopsis Orchid as a gift yesterday and the leaves look like this? Should I trim them off or just leave them alone?

Tolumnias!!!! Just bought a bushel of these delightful mini orchids on Etsy. Evidently they are my orchid equivalent to Pringles. Can’t have just one. So much for the plant embargo. But I guess it’s better than stress eating…

alright orchid experts, I’m joining the group because although I’ve never had an orchid nor do I have any knowledge, I just got this one for $5 (i’m assuming because the blooms fell or were knocked off) any and all suggestions are appreciated 🥰

Hey y’all! I have a question. Do y’all know how often the Sogo Lawerence moth orchid get keikeis? Because I would like to have another Sogo. I think she’s almost done flowering. Some of her precious blooms fell off a few days ago. Thanks in advance!

Just repotted a couple weeks ago with “Better-Gro” special Orchid potting mix, and fertilized with “Better-Gro” Orchid Better-Bloom. Leaves feel leathery and as you can see the bottom ones sagging/yellowing. This window is facing north and we’re in an apartment complex so it isn’t getting hit directly from the sun. Is there anything wrong or something different I may do to help?

So I just repotted my orchid and I waited a week before watering except when it came time to water it I checked it and its roots look liked THIS: The tip seems blackened and shriveled. I took this after watering. Should I cut off the tip or just wait and it might improve a bit since I watered it?

I need some help with this orchid. It has had one leaf for a while; however, some root development has occurred over the last year. I am not sure what to do to help it. Any suggestions? It currently sits in a west facing window.

Update : I had the roots in a little bit of water but I don’t think that’s working. What should I do? Should I put it back in orchid bark?

I went to a fabulous orchid show today! I’ve been interested in learning more about orchids, since most of my knowledge and collection is in the aroids group. I got my first unusual orchid! It’s a Dendrobium cucumerinum, or as I’m already affectionately calling it: my pickle orchid 😂🥰💚

Hi quick question Where should you cut your orchid stem after it’s done flowering?

Hello, I’m a complete orchid newbie. Does anyone know what kind of orchid this is? The flowers were a mottled yellow with purple—very pretty. Planta keeps saying it’s some kind of moth orchid, but it doesn’t look like any I’ve seen. Also, does anyone know what those ‘nubs’ at the bottom of the plant are? Thank you!

Paphiopedilum spicedrianum A lovely green flower with pink markings and a white flag. The flower looks different depending on the light so I included both photos. Yay!

I impulse bought an orchid vanda blue. Hanging with exposed roots. I have lots of house plants but no experience with these. Any tips to keep it healthy and flowering?

Ok last post here for a while (I feel like I’m jamming everyone’s feeds up a bit). Around 2-3 months ago, I repotted this orchid, I didn’t know much and wasn’t able to re pot it properly after realizing it had root rot. It’s planted way to big now so I want to invest in nice repot me pots and potting mix. I’m going to get the Phalaenopsis AAA gold imperial orchid potting mix. What I need help with is the slotted pot size. I’m bad with spacial sizing stuff, I’m think 4 inches or 3 . Please help me get this right! Thanks so much!

Update post on my Paphiopedilums that were growing roots way too high above the medium to survive. Proof that orchids are just crazy plants… I cut the fans and stuck them in sphagnum moss to see if I could get roots to grow and not dry out. 8-10 weeks of keeping them moist, and one is growing roots and thriving. The other hasn’t budged, tiny little nubs of undeveloped roots BUT IT IS STILL ALIVE and… STARTED GROWING A NEW LEAF. What the heck?!? These guys are such survivors… how in the world has #2 managed this with NO roots?!?
