best way to propagate a philo? should i just do water?

Aimichelle

Just a little encouragement for anyone mulling over chopping and propagating their fiddle leaf fig. I’m so glad I did it! It’s been three months and here is the progress. It looks like it’s going to branch off in 2-3 new directions and has about 6 new leaves with two more ready to pop soon. The prop in the photo I planted last week. The second cutting is still rooting in water. I don’t know if I would root a flf in water again. It got rot twice and I had to restart the woodier cut. After the fact I heard good things about using perlite or air layering, both were suggested a few times.

I propagated this hoya this summer. It had only 2 leaves and I put it directly into soil and now it has 5 leaves and doing great. I got the start from a friend who is 80 and the mother plant is over 40 years old. I'm so glad to get a great start going and hope I do as well as she has with her plant

I don’t know if I’m in the right group but I have a fiddle fig tree and I’ve had her since February 2024 and she has grown 6 leaves which I’m very grateful for but I’ve noticed that she is just a stick. I love how fiddle figs look when they branch out. Is there a way I could make that happen?

I just got this pink princess and I'm not sure if I should keep it in water or plant her. Also what is the best soil for her. As you can see she has a great root. Thanks for any helpr

Could I propagate my Croton? The first picture is when I first got it (March 2024) and the second picture is it recently (January 2025). As you can see, it lost all is foliage over time, no matter how I’ve cared for it. When I repotted it, it had separate bulbs and I replanted 3 of them. 2 died, hence the one remaining. I don’t think it’ll grow its leaves to the way it was, so I’m hoping to propagate. If it’s possible, how would I do it? I’ve never done a propagation. I don’t wanna have to start over and buy a new plant!

Hi, I began to sow cactus seeds but 2 days later, they all grew mold 😭 Anyone know what I did wrong? I had them under a grow light, moistened soil, and covered the top with cling wrap. I also had them on a heated mat

Ok, I bought these cute vases OVER two years ago to use for propagating. These are the first cuttings I put in there!!! They rooted immediately and haven’t grown since. I know the roots are long enough to plant, but I thought I would start seeing new leaf growth. They are just staying their cute little size. Are they just waiting for their new home?

My daughter gifted some clippings for me last year. Who says you have to plant them? Maybe I just need a bigger vase?

This plant is dying and I was wondering if I still can propagate the two stems that are still alive. The only thing is I have never propagated anything before and I want to know where I should cut the stem, if I need to dry it out or if I need to transfer it into water. Hope someone can help me:)🙏

Just joined plants so I’ll be spamming you all with pics over next few days. I got a rudsta cabinet a few weeks ago. Today, I cleared out a pot of alocasia pink princess and found 14 corms.

I over fertilized my pink princess. The leaves aren’t very pretty. Can I cut off the new growths in a few months and propagate them?

Hello! I need some help with my plant! The app is saying that she is placed too dark! But she’s right in a South-facing window all day with the blinds opened! Recently a whole branch/part of the plant fell out of the soil and didn’t really have any roots, so I quickly threw it into some water! My question is… will this plant propagate in water!?

Hello plant friends! I need help please. I had a full-grown Florida Green Philo that kind of died. The plant on the right is from the original and it had roots so it was planted this in soil in the early summer. The remnants on the left were also from the original plant and have no roots. Right or wrong, I had these two pieces laying down in moist perlite and they have sprouted and have no roots. What should I now do with these so that they grow? Thank you for any advice that you can give me 🙃

Sprouted some lotus seeds. They look like tadpoles. Anyone have tips on next steps?
