Hi, I began to sow cactus seeds but 2 days later, they all grew mold 😭 Anyone know what I did wrong? I had them under a grow light, moistened soil, and covered the top with cling wrap. I also had them on a heated mat

I think it was the cling wrap - it traps the moisture in and allows for overgrowth of mould.

There was mold spores in your soil, not uncommon at all. Often the seeds are still fine. Spray them down with 1:3 peroxide every 3 days for 3 treatments.

I also use a cling film or cloche. It does not inherently cause mold. You can prevent this next time by taking the soil you plan to use and pouring boiling water over it, let it sit until cool, and drain off the water. Squeezing it out so it dries a bit faster to be able to use.

Cactus like the soil to dry out completely then water it’s happened to me
