I love love love this plant but it's getting a little unruly. If I snip off the bottoms can I propagate them and how?

3 new stems coming in on my Banyan Roy, however, one has turned brownish black and I’m unsure if it stopped growing be because it was hidden and I didn’t notice it until today. Will it grow or should l carefully slice it off and see if it will re grow healthily. Any tips help thanks!

How and exactly where do I cut to prop this croton? I have cut under a node and plopped into H2O but the normally very stiff (like a Manila folder) leaf immediately goes limp and no roots ever form. I’ve tried twice. I want to prop this beauty so bad! Same question about my other croton, too, please?

Hey y’all! I’ve had this plant for a while and it’s doing amazing and gives off new flowers. I was wondering if I can prop from just this or if I have to buy new plants to add to it. Thanks in advance! :)

What is the best brand of fertilizer pellets to drop into water props and how many pellets would you drop into a small vial of water like the ones shown in my hanging water vial prop below in the pic? I just ordered Garden Safe Take Root from Amazon as it had many good reviews but I’d rather learn from this community. Thx!

Hi! I bought this Banyan Roy from Home Depot like this because I was attracted to the tree like look (with leaves only at top). However, after viewing other pictures of much leafier Banyans, I want branch/leaves to come out the bottom nodes, which are aplenty. 2+ weeks ago I notched every node and applied Keiki paste (white sap came out after notching). So far, nada. Any tips for me? Also wondering, if I cut off the top, 1-2 leaves down, will it grow back out as two branches where I cut or just one? Thx!

Would it be strange if I ask a lady at the office if I can cut props off her pothos…

Oki two questions. 1) if I am growing a plant in water and plan to keep it there do I need to give it fertilizer for nutrients? 2) does anyone do this, if so what fertilizer do you use? I’ve heard of people using slow release fertilizer but I don’t know which one to get.

Hi everyone I’m new to the group. Can I germ plant seeds on wet paper towel in ziplock bag? I saw on YouTube Thanks!!

Help ! 😭 I’ve had string of pearls once, this is my second and I kill them everytime ! Last time I think I over watered and this time I think I underwatered ! 😭 the pot is super shallow I repotted the cuttings so these are cuttings and I don’t think they’re taking 🥲 I clipped what was still good and healthy and repotted, I watered when I repotted and they don’t seem to be taking. I think this plant might be too delicate for me 😅

Hi everyone! I have these elephant bushes that were given to me in pretty bad condition. They've been getting better but a lot of the branches are super lanky like the ones pictured. I've been trimming and propagating the pieces, would it be a good idea to plant the rooted props in the areas of empty soil to make the plant thicker overall?? Or should I just keep trimming and waiting for new growth?? Thank you!!

Hi all! I successfully propagated this prayer plant but am not sure what to do next.. My dad came to visit yesterday and seems to think I need to trim a leaf or two as the roots won’t be able to support new leaves coming up.. opinions? Also, when is it ready to plant in soil? What soil type? Sorry for the many questions! So new to this🫣

Hello fellow plant lovers! This branch of my tomatoes was torn off the plant by accident. Is there any hope in propagating it? There are a few clusters of tomatoes on it and it’d be great to save somehow. I’ve never done propagation before. Thank you!

How long do nanouks take to start having roots? I’ve been moving other props in with mine to see if it’ll help, but I’m getting a little discouraged. Nanouk on the left, pellonia on the right.

I’m pretty sure this is the right group for this, so here we go - i have a problem with impulsively taking the babies off my spider plant and throwing them in water when i see that they are a specific size lol. i have about 5 right now that are propagating in water. 2 or 3 of them are at the point where their roots are long enough to plant them in soil, but i don’t have enough pots to give them each their own. If i plant all 5 of them in, say, a 5-6 inch pot, will they get too cramped and have issues? or do spider plant enjoy being cramped? any feedback or ideas are greatly welcome :)

I am looking for recommendations on what I can plant on the side of my house. I’m very new to gardening so I need something tough 😅 but also safe for pets because we have outside pets. The side of the house I’m wanting to plant on doesn’t get much sun thought the day. I’d say by early afternoon it’s shaded over. I’m having a hard time finding something that doesn’t require full sun. I’m also in the Midwest if that helps. I was planning on moving my lavender to that spot but I didn’t realize that it needs full sun so I will have to move it to my other garden 😅
