Okay, it’s my first time gardening and I’ve had success with all of my vegetables except for my cucumbers! These guys are taking over my ENTIRE garden, but I haven’t had a single cucumber and it looks like none of the flowers are blooming into cucumbers, some of them are even dying. What am I missing here?
So what’s up with my strawberry plant ?? I’ve gotten a handful off it already but it’s dying ? I never let the soil completely dry also don’t over soak. Please help 🥹
Tragedy struck this morning; a culprit ate my potato’s leaves and my dianthus’ flowers. The crime occurred between 11pm and 6am. Witness reports say the subject has brown fur with white spots. Totally unrelated, anyone have any good deer repelling tips?😂
It’s my first time growing cucumber (anything really) and although it is growing very very slowly according to my notes from the seed bag I am suppose to be harvesting by the 29th of may 😂 I don’t have any cucumber and my plant is like 2 inches tall. What am I doing wrong?

Is it time to trash these basil and tomato seedlings? They sprouted well indoors but have been stagnant since then basically. The tomato has added the tiny leaves seen on the right of the taller stems since being outdoors. But not much more progress beyond that. It’s my first year beginning seeds indoors so not sure what to expect. They’ve been outside about a month now. Plus there’s super tiny black bugs in the soil I’m not sure are harmful or not.
Can I plant this entire onion? Or should I separate the sprouts? & also, can I plant in a potato bag? (with no potatoes, obviously) or should I plant in a planter?
I would like to start working on planting pollinators/perennials. However, I have a lot of pine trees in my yard that give out more shade than sun. Any ideas for what I could plant would be nice. My columbine with the pine trees in the background for attention.
What plant is this? HELP! I planted alyssum, marigolds, calendula, and nasturtiums. These little sproutlings have shown up everywhere. It’s been 6 days since I planted seeds. Are these mine? Or are they weeds? It’s a raised planter box so nothing from my yard could’ve gotten in. I did use a neighbors compost so could it be grass/weeds from that? I pulled one so you guys can see the root. These are what they look like in my box. As you can see in the background, they’re everywhere. Important note: I used rice hulls for aeration. I THINK they’re sprouting from those. But I thought rice hulls were supposed to be sterile?

Hello! I have two Kalanchoe. How can I encourage flower growth / maintenance this? Should I cut the long stems?
Are these dead? Last summer I planted several new plants in my front yard garden. I live in Toronto, zone 7a. While the winters are getting warmer, we had a couple of old spells this season with temperatures going below -20C and even getting to -30C for a few days. Most of the plants I planted (and the bulbs as well) are showing spring growth (e.g., lilies, crocuses, hostas, tulips, cardonna). But the miniature roses, hibiscus, and coneflowers look dead to me. They were covered with a thick layer of mulch and I followed the suggested winter care but it doesn’t look good to me. Any suggestions? I fertilized the roses this week (plus I added slow fertilizer at the end of the season) and everything is getting enough sun and water. Do I need to be more patient, or are these a lost cause? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Hey guys! First time grower, unless you count growing grass in elementary school. I’ve recently germinated some tomato seeds (Beefsteak and Italian Roma), and was wondering mainly what size pot I would need for both plants in a few weeks for transplant, as I rent and don’t have the rights to make a whole garden bed. I’ve seen some results say 8”/8”, some say 12”/12” some say 16”/16” so I just don’t really know which is best.
I live in an apartment and I’m in my second year creating an urban balcony garden. I’ve previously had cherry tomatoes and jalapeños that did excellent! I currently have dill & cucumber (planted together), plum tomatoes & purple basil (planted together), sweet peppers, and violets. Any tips for success with these plants / balcony gardening? I imagine I’ll need to repot the cucumber/dill and tomato/basil plants at some point, but for now I’m leaving them as is.
does anyone have advice for rock squirrels? i live in arizona and have plants on my front porch as well as container gardens in my back yard, and i cant seem to keep anything because rock squirrels come and eat it. i tried spraying my yard with repellent, and we have a fence around the whole yard too. not sure what to do, they ate my massive pumpkin plants till they were nothing 😭
Design suggestions, please 🙏 We moved into the house a year ago. The previous owner had these planters with ornamental grasses that were beyond root bound and didn’t come back this season. I planted some lantanas recently but I still don’t like the look. It doesn’t “flow.”Without a window and add the high pitch, I’m at a loss on how to make this area look better. I’ll take any and all of your creative gardening suggestions

I apologize in advance for the length of this post. Shortly before we purchased our home 3 years ago the previous owner created a privacy hedge from newly planted Arborvitaes (52 in total). We quickly learned that they planted the trees way too close together. I always thought they should be planted no closer than 3 feet. My current research says 4-6 feet. Unfortunately, all of the trees are planted 16-20 INCHES apart. Since we moved in we have had 4 of the trees die and it appears two more are on their way out. Because I know they need air circulation and sunlight I make a point of clearing all the dead branches and foliage twice a year. The problem is because they are so close, the trees are seriously thinner each time we clean them out. I had no idea what variety they actually were when we moved in and I was hoping the previous owner knew something I did not and they were a smaller tree. It doesn’t appear to be the case. I’m guessing they paid a local nursery to create privacy and the nursery just saw a bigger payday with selling the most trees they could without thought to longevity. So now I need to make a decision. I am thinking that the best course of action may be to remove every other tree. We certainly won’t have intended privacy hedge but honestly, the yard is small, neighbors are nice and hopefully if I take care of the trees the remaining trees fill out eventually. That said, I haven’t actually seen arborvitae “fill in” and thicken up. All of the ones I’ve ever seen in our neighborhood loose foliage on lower branches…never to return (But of course I don’t know if the owners realized the need to be cleared out of dead foliage) . I can continue on the current path and fertilized to encourage fuller growth but with all the time and expense it will take to remove every other tree I am wondering if that will even solve the problem, or should we just remove them all and start over. I hate the thought of tearing out any of them…but will doing so salvage the remaining trees…or is it too little too late?
Guys!! I need HELP🚨 I'm brand new at this and I want to be a good plant mom and I have no clue where to start! I bought these flowers from Lowe's a week ago, planted them in these pots, I've been watering them once or twice a day. Miracle growing them once a week, they get a lot of sun. Yet they still seem to be dying, what do I do?! I included pictures from when I got them to now.
