Why is she bleeding ššš Iām not concerned about the leaf dying off lmao all the other leaves are chilling and it just made a new one so I figure itās just part of the plantās life cycle, BUT WHAT IS THAT??? Iāve never seen a plant bleed like that. Maybe Iām crazy
Is this corm a goner? It got stuck in the mail and arrived cold. Itās not mushy, but⦠š¬ It donāt look good
I am considering a potting medium change for my two alocasias. My soil is currently mixed with orchid bark and perlite but Iām thinking itās still not chunky enough and holds a bit too much water. My ninja is looking a little depressed which is why I am thinking about this, though it may still be acclimating. Anyone have any recommendations? I am contemplating leca but feel like I see mixed things on it. Or would just adding more bark/perlite be the easier answer?
Just got one of my wishlist plants! Variegated Alocasia Frydek! Itās in a humidity dome for now to help it acclimate and isolate it. Hope it stays happy! š
Has anyone bought these clear acrylic window shelves from Amazon? Iām interested to know if they are sturdy.
can someone tell me why my adult alocasia is growing two baby leafs that arenāt even unfurling? Iām aware I have a baby plant growing on the left, but Iām not sure why the leaves on the adult plant arenāt full size? thanks! :)
SHES FINALLY HAPPY AGAIN, I repotted her on Monday as she was getting hydrophobic and everything. (picture 2 is when I had repot) She was just looking sad so I repot her into a wider container I had (1-2 inches wider) and BOOM come today sheās exploded!!
I wanted to show off this bad girl Evangeline.
My alocasia cuprea is gifting me with a bloom! I rescued this one from a grocery store, along with another that only lives on through a corm, and Iām so happy to see it thriving! I know many people recommend cutting the blooms off but I have plans for this one! Iāll be saving the pollen to use if my black velvet ever blooms to hopefully create a hybrid!
Time for me to dig up my Cannias and elephant, ear bulbs for the winter. I was alway all summer doing hip replacements so I didnāt get to keep up with them. But the bulbs got to recharge their batteries why I was away.
This came out of my black velvet, I thought it was making a leaf until today and Iāve never seen this beforeā¦anyone know what it is and why itās there??
Any idea what could cause brown - what appear to be dry/dead spots specifically only along the veins?
Can someone identify what this is? I wanted to guess pink princess but I have a bigger one that just sprouted new leaves that donāt show the same dark undersides.
Is it possible to mend her?šš my cat had a wild night, Iām not happy!!!
Should i repot my dragons breathe? It was fine before but now itās drinking up water like nothing, I gave it a drench yesterday and itās nearly dry again (Iām in winter, and itās not near any heater, also itās in a cabinet and Iām using LED grow lights so no sun is directly on it) could it be the soil is too dense or has it outgrown itās pot?
DRAMA QUEEN ALERT šØ I moved it for 3 DAYS! Because I was renovating my room and look at it šš
Bought this black velvet the other day for 50% off because it looked great and was just really droopy. (The plant store it was in in actually has no windows so I figured it was just from lack of sun) Iāve had it sitting in the sunny window in the day time and in this chair at night under a grow light with it leaves propped up, hoping it will give it the support to get more upright. Any suggestions to help this guy get less droopy? Heās already doing better since I brought it home. Itās actually gone up a bit and had a new growth already. (Daytime picture is when I got it home the other day)
I just ordered an alocasia corm to grow one for the first time! I hope itās not too hard š Of course, I had to dive into the deep end with a variegated frydek corm lol. Iāve grown several colocasia and caladiums from bulbs before, but theyāre easier if Iām not mistaken. I failed at an alocasia flying squid in the past, but I blame that on not knowing it had a death mesh š¬ Wish me luck I guess lol š Iām super excited
My dragon scale alocasia BLOOMED!!! Itās the most beautiful flower Iāve ever seen and my proudest achievement as a plant-parent :,)
