Is this corm a goner? It got stuck in the mail and arrived cold. It’s not mushy, but… 😬 It don’t look good

Did you get off plant purge? I only ask cause I always see croms for sale in that group. It should be fine, I have heard you can peel them to help with germination but not sure if that is true.

I got it from an online shop. I’ve let then know and I’m waiting to see if they have any thoughts or tips. Anxious waiting lol. I’m hoping it’s just the outside sheath that’s black and the inside is fine, like you said 🤞 I don’t have alocasia experience (I know, why did I start with a variegated then? 😂) but my other bulb-type plants have surprised me in the past with their hardiness. Hopefully I’m worrying over nothing in that case lol

Aw, lovely collection despite the challenges!
0 Mi piaceI woke up today to find those brown spots, alocasia are pretty tough so I know it isn’t doomed. It’s just I have a lot I need to learn
1 mi piaceI don’t think it’s a goner if it isn’t mushy but alocasias are very temperature sensitive! Try keeping it in a warm area with its lid sealed and hopefully it’ll start to grow! I’ve had them take over a month to start sprouting and have only lost one of the 12 corms that I had to rot. Good luck with your frydek!

Have you tried peeling it? It’s hard to tell from the picture the state of the corm

I haven’t yet, but I think I’ll try it
