Hi! I got this plant and I’m very new to all sorts of plant/succulent care. According to the app, it’s a Mexican Snowball (I thought it was a hen and chick…are those synonymous?). Couple super quick questions…
1. Is it okay that the top is leaning to one side? I thought it was because it was growing towards the sun, but rotation hasn’t corrected the shape. I have a small skewer as you can see to give it some support, but I also don’t want to cause damage to the plant over time having it leaning.
2. Should I expect it to continue to grow new branches? There are two you can see in the picture. One is a little more mature and is starting to really flourish and the other is just a little baby bud. I think I’m starting to notice other buds beginning where leaves previously were (the open circles on the stem).
3. What is the film on the leaves and is it important to the care of the plant? I noticed there are some spots that are shiny rather than the dusty white look and I’m not sure if that is good, bad, or doesn’t matter.
Thank you for all your help! I appreciate all the advice, I’m still learning!

Hi everyone! I just picked this beauty up from Walmart. I can’t find an exact match on Planta. When I scan the plant I get “zebra plant” when I type in aloe firecracker, I get “star aloe firecracker” but it’s all green; no red variegation. So planty experts, which is it? Which would be more suitable for planta?
Thanks!

I could use some help please! From reading up on it, I think my snake plant needs more light since it’s growing upwards but not getting any bushier. I was thinking of repotting it into the terra cotta pot in the picture. I’m afraid they might start tipping over but I also don’t want to lose it by cutting them down because it’s from my son’s beach wedding a few years ago. Any suggestions on how to handle this properly?

I chopped my sedum because it was getting wayyyyyy too leggy, should I drop the bigger stem pieces in water or just lay them onto and spray them ?

I found it like this after his long winter nap. Are we worried about this or is he gonna make a comeback?! Google doesn’t seem to understand my question when I try to explain the situation here and I honestly didn’t think he’d survive the winter so now I’m a little lost.

Hi friends! I have a question about using a terracotta pot versus plastic nursery pot. I know succulents/jades don’t like to be wet, so waterings are sparse. But for a terracotta pot, that absorbs water more quickly, right? Should succulents/jades in a terracotta pot be watered more frequently than a succulent/jade in a plastic nursery pot? Planta is still saying waterings should be 2-3 weeks apart. But I feel like my terracotta plants are drying out and should be watered more frequently.
Fun fact: I’ve had a bad history of overwatering plants and killing them so I’ve been using Planta to improve my plant care. So I just want to make sure I’m doing what’s right for the plant as I learn my way through this crazy wonderful plant world lol
Also, most of my succulents/jades are tiny, in 2 in pots, having been propagated and growing from a leaf, if that’s helpful at all.

Just got my assorted Cactus from Lowe’s! I love Cacti. Any tips or heads up when starting my new plants life? Also, I don’t have premium.

Hi plant friends! New to the app and I mainly joined because of these two babies here. I’ve done the plant doctor with Ai through the app and it said these were under watered. The agave was pretty sickly looking when I bought it a couple weeks ago and it just looks pitiful now. The red yuccas aren’t looking too hot either. Mind you, I live in west Texas where we’re reliving the dust bowl and it’s spring which means high winds and dried out soil begins. But these are typically drought tolerant after established. I’m worried I’ve watered too much trying to establish them. The app said they were underwatered. Any one have any suggestions to getting my babies looking healthy?

I inherited this guy from a coworker and I’ve been caring for it (poorly) for a couple years. I’ve no idea what type of plant this is….some kind of succulent. It has new growth, but the more mature shoots are constantly yellow at the base and I feel like the leaves drop pretty frequently. Any ideas on how to improve caring for this guy? Thanks in advance!

Ants keep invading my house to live in my succulent plants. How do I keep them out? I’ve repotted, tried cinnamon sprinkled around and even diatomaceous earth but the buggers keep coming inside.
I live in the desert so it’s 120 in the summer. I think my plants will just die if I try to move them outside🥲
Cue the plant pic of my babies drowning in cinnamon and diatomaceous earth lol 😭
