Hi guys :) I got a purple pitcher plant for Vday and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to water it, take care of it etc.? I don’t want to over water it but I also don’t want to underwater. Any tips and advice will be helpful

Has anyone put together a “bog bowl” for your carnivorous plant babies? I saw a photo of one (similar to the one attached to this post- not my photo) and have been obsessed ever since! Any inspiration pics or helpful pointers from my planta colleagues? lol 🪰🌱

I’ve never owned a pitcher plant before, but when I saw this one at the farmers market I decided I wanted to try. I knew little to nothing about how to care for it, so I did a little research. I plan to buy distilled water, mist it, and place it in sunlight. I still feel a bit lost. Do I need to cut off the dying pitchers? Is the brown ends (3rd photo) new growth or dying?

hi!!! my ping (Pinguicula moranensis var. caudata x spec. Guatemala) has been putting out flower after flower, but it hasn’t any produced any sticky since i got it. she looks healthy and has definitely gotten bigger since i got her. it’s potted in a bog bowl with a layer of horticultural lava rocks at the bottom for drainage. potting medium is sphagnum peat moss and perlite. it is heavily watered with distilled water, but i let it dry out slightly during the winter months. i live in Jacksonville, Fl, and it is kept on a north facing window sill. does anyone know why it keeps flowering, but not producing any sticky stuff? it’s pushing on two new flowers, and has one flower right now. also, can i put a cape sundew and spoon leaf sundew in the bog bowl with the ping? thanks bunches! pics taken on my cat’s cat tree (much to her annoyance) bc it’s dark out!

So I ordered this sundew last autumn from California Carnivores and it’s been chilling in my terrarium since. Today I cleaned it up by pulling the dead leaves off gently and I’m happy to see the split leaf sundew in there. But I don’t know what this other plant is. Planta says it’s a pearlwart but the one picture available doesn’t help much because it’s not a good picture. I haven’t googled it yet but I want to see if anyone else has had this happen. Thanks 😊

Hi all, I was lucky enough to have an incredibly good first season with my indoor fly trap that I bought back in June 2024. He was very healthy and had very large traps and lots of them!! I have my fly trap in the fridge currently for a deep dormancy, to hopefully get an excellent second season out of him but I wasn’t sure when I should bring him out of dormancy? And what the proper procedure is?? I live in the UK in an old house so it’s pretty chilly still here so just after some advice on where I should place him and when I should bring him out of the fridge? Thanks guys!

I have two alatas with this now and I’m wondering if it’s fungus? I clean them every month with peppermint soap and neem oil to keep bugs away but it’s not helping Update: I cut the damaged leaves off and cleaned with peppermint soap and neem oil. I also found out that it’s a ventracosa and not an alata as it is sold to me as on EBay lol

Hi!! over the weekend i got a pinguicula blush and a drosera spatulata and was just looking for some tips on these! i’ve had a drosera before and killed it but it’s been over a year since then and i’ve had a lot more experience with plants since then as well. right now i have them in a plastic terrarium under a grow light, is that substantial for them??

Anybody else just love Utricularia?? I just love their flowers. Really want to set up a palladium and get some water ones. This is U. bisquamata 'Betty's Bay'. Not much yo see yet.
