Hi! I was at the store today and spotted some venus flytraps, I loved them as a kid and decided to buy one. I tried to pick the most lively looking one of the bunch but it’s still very droopy and sad. I have repotted it in a 10cm pot with one part perlite and 2 parts sphagnum peat moss, & keeping the saucer filled with a little bit of water. What is the most recommended thing to feed it? I don’t get many house flies but we definitely have ant problems throughout the year. Should I visit a reptile store? This is my first time with a plant of this type and I’m super excited but would love some help! ❤️

The flytraps I got from Walmart a few weeks back are producing a tonnnnn of tiny traps. I think I noticed an entirely separate plant. What do you think? Does it look like a separate plant? These are my first flytraps. If they are in fact separate traps, you’re supposed to wait until dormancy to repot them right? Edit: the pink pick is another flytrap that seems to be swarming with little traps.

I bought this little guy the other day, and I placed it on the window ledge inside my house, and I found it on the floor, so I put it back in its original package. But my concern is, how do I keep the soil humid and how do I feed it? First timer here

she’s finally here!! please share your care tips!! i have her under a grow light on its lowest setting and i plan to increase the settings every other day

I fed one of my flytraps a mealworm about a week ago before I got better food for them. It’s starting to rot from where the mealworm was cut it looks like. I did let the worm soak in distilled water before feeding it to the trap. What’s the issue here?

“Richard Dumpling” (My 7 and 5 year old wildlings each picked a name 😅) seems to be thriving after week 3. I have been bottom watering and the water is gone in a few days; should I continuous replenish the water or wait a couple days in between?

I’ve had this holiday cactus and it’s supposed to only bloom in Christmas but we brung it down to Florida and now it’s starting to bloom in the spring is this unusual

Does this look like a flower bud in the center to anyone? I thought it was perlite at first until I touched it. My eyes aren’t the best so I’d love some input 😁

Hi. I’ve been giving my flytraps mealworms and they’re doing fine. Recently I saw a video of someone feeding theirs a homemade mixture of fish pellets and stuff. I’m curious what foods and methods you guys use and what seems to work best? After feeding. What do you do to stimulate the hairs so the trap stays closed? Most of my traps are pretty small so getting even a toothpick in there can be difficult sometimes. I’m also curious if the mouths are still supposed to turn red when using a grow light? Mine are super green still, but the traps came from Walmart, so maybe it’s not a variety that turns red? Can you increase the number of active traps by alternating feedings? Why is one of my Venus flytraps producing traps that are only mm long. Tiny tiny little things.

My Venus flytrap that I got a few months ago is blooming for the first time!

Any tips on how to report a Venus fly trap? All of the traps are close to the surface so unsure of how to repot it without causing the traps to shut. Any advice would be great, thanks <3

So I found this huge nepenthes spectablis IN FLOWER at an orchid show yesterday. It’s got several dead basal growth points that have been chopped back, and was so dirty with zero pitchers but I’m super stoked to see if I can harvest pollen from it and maybe prop it eventually? It could use a restart it’s super heavy.

hey! i recently moved from a south facing window to a south east facing window, i would love to get a new pitcher plant as mine has succumbed to the heat in this room. i have a humidifier and keep it going 12 hours a day, is there a specific species i should look for? i had a nepenthes alata before but i would really appreciate some advice on which type to go for! pics for interactions:)

hey all, I moved back in september from a fully south facing window to here; a south east facing window. I have some grow lights coming in today to put by the fairy garden pot, and on the left side by the lithops/donkey tails. any advice is welcome, I also have a radiator that my stand is up against, any advice on watering? I notice I have to do it way more frequently. I have an alocasia and bonsai tree which is what the humidifier is for, and as we can tell my pitcher plant has succumbed to the heat:( I loved her so much so if anyone has any tips on what I can do for my new one! I haven’t ordered yet so please give suggestions for species/different types, before I had a nepenthes alata, if that helps.

The app is telling me I have my nepenthes gaya in too bright of light. In my understanding they love direct sunlight (south facing window) and most issues come from not enough light. I’d say it’s been doing great for the few months I’ve had it. Just curious why the app would tell me that? 🧐
