too hot inside, too wild outside: what should i do with my plants while i travel? 😥 hey plant people! 🌱 i live in nyc and will be traveling for about 3 weeks this summer. i’m trying to figure out the best way to keep my plants alive while i’m gone. i have around 15 plants, some big and some small ones. i have an outdoor patio and was thinking of leaving them outside so they get fresh air instead of being stuck in my hot, closed-up apartment, but i’m worried about the unpredictable summer weather—nyc can get really hot and also have sudden heavy rains and windy days. would building something like a diy awning or cover be enough to protect them? or would it be better to leave them inside and ask a neighbor to stop by once a week to water them? (though i’m not sure how well they'll do in the heat without good airflow) would love to hear how others have handled this—any tips or advice would be super appreciated! thanks! 🙏💚

My plant is curling up and looks kinda sad? I’m not too sure what do I do
i’ve sprayed with neem oil, put sticky traps in, but the gnats seem to not care. any tips or tricks? it’s driving me insane 😭
Zone 7a peeps - what are your go to outdoor plants? I am in zone 6b and just bought a home a few hours south. Im hoping an ever so slight change in climate might open up a couple opportunities. Maybe for gardenia? What other ideas do you have!?
Has anyone in North Carolina had any success with planting Lantana outside?
Advice welcome!! I found scale on my monstera on Sunday this week : just a couple adults, no babies! I’m so paranoid, I picked them all off and used insecticidal soap top to bottom. I’m thinking of also repotting with fresh soil just to be extra safe - is that necessary or am I going into panic mode too soon? I just love this plant and don’t want her to die 😭
Hi friends! I am moving states soon and trying to figure out how to get my plants there in one piece? I will not have a car so it’s looking like the only option is to ship all of my plants and hope (not my decision unfortunately, and if it were up to me I would just drive each leg of the move myself). Have any of you shipped live plants before, and if so how did you do it? Did they survive the journey? 🥲 I’m planning on rehoming/gifting a couple of plants that I know will do better here than there (that’s the other thing— completely different climates), but I’d like to keep as many of my kids intact as possible since I am way too attached to let all of them go 🥲🥲🥲
Shishigashira - Lions Head Japanese Maple is not in the database. How do you add the plant in your garden?
Hi everyone, my cherry tomato plant is growing quite a bit. However, I noticed the leaves are getting a dark color to them. Does anyone know if this is from too much sun/or too much water?!
I think a mouse got in & is eating the fertilizer sticks in my plants…. setting traps tonight but any ideas otherwise? I was told red pepper flakes on the soil may help, but want to hear other feedback as well
I welcomed this beauty to my home today😍 Hope to keep her happy and healthy!
Hey everyone! What are some beginner friendly plants that i should pick up? So far i have a Satin Pothos, Golden Pothos, Snake Plant, Prayer Plant, and some kind of succulent (not sure exactly what it is). But, i’m looking for more plants to add to my collection! I adore plants! For reference, I only have one south-facing window in my house. I also have 2 cats & a dog, so there are some plants that I won’t risk getting due to them being toxic to my animals. I currently have some that are toxic for my animals, but I keep them hanging from the ceiling where my animals are unable to reach them. Thanks in advance!
Hey everyone! I have four new leaves that are growing on the outskirts of my snake plant, right up against its pot. Is this bad? Should I try to separate them and put them in a new pot? I don’t want to hurt them because they’re new, so I would love y’alls advice for the best plan of action, if any is needed! Thank you!
Alrighty, I might be too late asking for help for my plants but what can I do for these babies?
Planta says 3 plants of mine (money plant, snake plant and scindapsus) are in too dark of a spot (6 feet from a window, bright indirect light all day) but if I place them any closer (aka in the window) they suffer. I don't have a solution for this for the app. Anyone else have this problem?
I’ve read and seen in videos that some people go exclusively leca because it’s less messy than soil. I’d obviously do plant-specific research before converting, but anyone else out there who is all-leca? What are the pros and cons of a primarily leca approach?
Hello, i’m new to the community and just wanted to show off my lucky bamboo! it was the first plant i had and it was in poor condition when i got it about 3 years ago. Kept it in water for about a year and half now and it’s happy! even shooting out little babies. It sits at 2 feet and 8 inches in height.
I am very new to plant care and i recently got a garden tulip gifted to me, does anyone know what fertilizer to use? And what pot size would be good too?
I have a few plants that are in self watering planters. They have a string/wick at the bottom that sits in a reservoir of water. How do you guys set them up in your tracker? I don’t see a setting for that type of planter. Obviously, the tracker sets the schedule based on the pot and when you last watered it, but for some of my plants, I usually just skip the task for the day. Thanks 🤍🪴
Pot size question: I have a rubber plant and a philodendron lemon lime that both need a larger pot. They’re currently in 5” pots (measured across the top). My question is should I upgrade them to a 6” pot or an 8” pot each?
