Do you name your plants? If so how do you pick their names? My Birken is named Susan. She just looks like a Susan to me. My Hoya Krimson Princess is named Princess Buttercup after The Princess Bride. Just curious how you come up with names.
Question about the light meter when adding a new plant. When taking a photo of the window to determine the light how far away should you be? Meaning do I take a photo a foot from the window and then say the plant is 10 feet away from it or take the photo from where the plant is and also say it is 10 feet away, for example? Each would give a different answer.
I just bought and painted this old cabinet black. It has built in lights, perfect for growing plants in it! đ What smaller plants do you think would look good in it?

Rescued this little guy from a coworker. He was almost dead and is now flourishing.
Looking for some advice/diagnosis for my Alocasia Micholitziana. She just gave me a really small leaf. She is not root bound but also not in a big pot, just tight enough the way Alocasias like to be. She is about 1 feet away from an East facing window, so she gets good direct morning light. My humidity has been around 60-65% on average. Any idea why it is giving me smaller leaves? đ I want big dark leaves!
Can anyone recommend a leafy hanging plant which is not toxic? Along the lines of pothos or something with larger leaves.

Lazy person question. I have so many plants in different rooms, and the misting notifications are too much. Would it matter if I just mist all of my plants once a week? So Iâm not misting 2-5 plants a day every day of the week?
My aloe was thriving now itâs so sad. I havenât changed anything. I brought her outside to see if that would help but nothing seems to be helping. Any ideas?

I released Lacewing Larvae because I found Mealies on my big pot of Lacunosa. Now the larvae are everywhere and I hate it. đ©
Hi! I am looking for some advice on my poor croton. It seems to have completely given up overnight. I have been following Plantaâs watering schedule, which in hindsight might have been the problem, it hadnât been watered in 3 weeks when I noticed it droop yesterday. I have been misting regularly. Plant Doctor is saying itâs over watered but how can it be when it was so dry the whole root bulb wiggled when I was checking the bottom. I gave it a very light watering yesterday to dampen the soil but no change. It got super cold in PA two days ago so maybe that had an effect? Though I havenât moved it since the last cold snap and it was fine through that. I want to water it again or maybe give it a bottom soak but Iâm worried it will shock it further. Thoughts?
Heyyo plant people đ Iâve gotten conflicting information online about reviving dead ivy plants. My partner had/has an English Ivy start and it got skipped during a past watering cycle, itâs currently looking extremely dead and crispy. Is there any hope that it would come back from the root system?
