I’d like to hear how you let your indoor house plants get some sunshine in spring-summer-fall. I’m in hardiness zone 8, and many of my philodendrons and pothos are supposedly ok outside in May-September. But I’ve never tried it. I have over 200 houseplants and won’t move all outside. Maybe half? Maybe… So do you just pick a day and move plants outside? Do you move some outside for daytime at first, bringing them in at night, just like hardening off young garden starts? And do you ‘layer’ them so ones at the top shade ones below? Or just place them near your house for shade? I don’t want to experiment with a bunch and lose them all, or cripple them.
I’m thrilled my local nursery which never has many indoor plants had the one plant on my Planta wishlist/cart, Arrowhead Strawberries and Cream!
I’m choosing a name for my new lipstick plant and I was wondering if you could help me. 1. Minka . . . Meaning is warrior comes from the place I was born 2. Alala . . . Meaning smart eager and warrior comes from my favorite subject 3. Ruby . . . Meaning red Latin origin recommended by a friend and has a cute nickname either ruba or red
Anyone have any good recommendations for stores or website to order unique plants for relatively cheap?? :)
I’m attempting to grow my peace Lilly in water and was wondering if the white flower turning green is an indication of too much sun or is this normal?
Hello! Any thoughts if the moss needs to be removed from my maple tree? Thanks!
Hi, my fern isn’t doing too well. It’s browning and feels really dry, I’ve pruned some of the browning after this photo. I check how wet it is by putting my finger into the soil, and if it’s dry I water it through the top and let it drain out. I mist the leaves sometimes, and it’s currently in a bright room but was in a darker room before hand. Any tips would be appreciated!

I have some nice sproutlings that emerged from my starter plugs. Should I push the plugs into soil or gently pull out the sproutlings and plant directly into new soil. And if so, how tall should the sproutlings be before pulling them out of plug? And what, isn’t sproutling a word? It’s underlined in red as if it isn’t!
Am I supposed to water right after repotting?
My baby lettuce seeds are growing!!!
Currently trying to grow these giant sequoia seedlings but two of the three appear to be dying. I water them regularly and have them outside most of the day but have recently repotted them in the past couple weeks. Does anyone know what I can do to keep them alive?
how do you guys polish your plants? i’ve seen people dilute captain jack’s deadbug and/or castile soap, but other people insist on just water. i’ll be using a spray bottle and a microfiber cloth.
I’m so happy my bulb was actually the right one. Some people on the reviews said they didn’t receive the bulb they ordered. I’ve been waiting for this to come up for probably 2+ months. And now she is here! And has more leaves sprouting out as well. Here are a few pics of mine and then one of the advertised ad. It’s a pink princess symphony.
Hi there, I am based in London and just can’t seem to get this honeysuckle to survive. I make sure it is well watered with good and adequate plant food, but the leaves turn yellow and eventually die. I had this same issue last year and I just can’t seem to find out what’s wrong with it! Would be grateful if anyone had ideas. Thank you
Hello! I got a wildflower seed packet from Home Depot and planted just a few seeds 👇🏻 . Do they look crowded? I just decided to put them in this pot and then later on plant them outside, because I am tracking their growth :)
I have this purple inchworm that use to grow Purple flowers and now I’m not sure what to do with it. It looks so unhappy now. I brought it outside yesterday on my patio. I liked her so much I named her Iris and one point sang you are my sunshine to it
Hey plant people! I’m having some trouble deciding what to do here… I don’t want my monstera’s aerial root to go into the roots and start making roots of its own. Can I just chop it off? Or should I just suck it up and deal with it? Please someone help soon. It’s almost at the soil as you can see it the picture below ⬇️
Is there is a way to add friends to my Planta profile? My mom lives halfway across the country but we want to keep up with each other’s plants😊 Some of mine have even been propagated from her and my late grandmother collections. Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I thought I might try! Happy Mother’s Day to those who celebrate in the US!
