my gryphon begonia keeps dropping its leaves, im not sure whatās the best approach to helping it get in its best shape!
Anyone know whatās going on in my snake plant? I just split from the mother plant since it was tight in its old pot. I couldnt see this spot but now I donāt want to lose both plants! I water about once per month and usually bottom water unless fertilizing. Beginner here, so need some help. Please and thank you š
I got this succulent on sale today from Lidl and I was wondering if the spots on the leaves looks like itās from any pests or fungus(which I doubt because the soil incredibly dry). I always quarantine new plants, but Iām unsure how to actually detect pests š Is it pests, or just uncaring lack of needs being stuck inside Lidl?
My mum got me this prayer plant today to try to save, and itās looking very sad!! any tips on how i can nurse it back to life? it needs a very good water and iāll consider repotting when it gets a bit healthier, but thatās about all i can guess at right now.
Hello all! These southern green stink bugs have shown up around my plants lately. Any safe ways to get rid on them?
Hello, just wondering if anyone has encountered ghost ants? Iāve heard of spider mites, mealy bugs, scale etc⦠but I Havenāt heard anyone talk about ghost ants. I live in Michigan, I placed an order from a Florida nursery, when the plants arrived I checked them all, the Florida Ghost I ordered was completely infested with these little buggers. Immediately took the plant outside and removed all the soil and placed the plant in water for now. I havenāt seen any sign of the ants in the other plants I ordered, but Iām not sure if there could be eggs either. Any suggestions on what to do, how long to quarantine, etc?
I havenāt been great with watering her recently but I was wondering if she just needs more water or is something else going on? I donāt want to lose anymore leaves. š¢
Brand new plant mom here. Iām trying to balance doing the right thing but not doing too much to help this monstera flourish. Sheās barely surviving, but definitely not thriving. š© What can I do for her? House is around 68-70 degrees currently with AC on, but sheās not near where the cool air blows. I repotted her into a tropical soil from miracle gro about a week after she was delivered. Soil is between dry/moist on my moisture meter. TIA!
So I think Iāve killed my plant⦠I repotted this less than a week ago and I noticed shortly after (a couple days) one of the leaves started to turn yellow. I took it out today to check on the roots and thereās now no roots⦠is my plant done for or is there anyway I can revive it? š
Iāve heard before that alocasias are KNOWN for spider mites, is this what I am seeing?
besides removing the dead is there anything i can do to save this?
What do I do about the one yellowing leaf on my Strelitzia? I repotted the plant in the center of the pot a couple of months ago and it is tilting again. Thanks in advance for the help! :)
Hey guys, I posted a pic of my orange prince and this is just an update for anyone who commented. UPDATE to everyone who responded and is seeing this now, I confirmed that this is mealybugs. As a relatively new plant mom Iām a bit devastated but I ended up taking a q tip and cotton pads and a size zero paint brush and going on every stem leaf and tiny crevice with a diluted isopropyl alcohol solution which took me around an hour. I removed any white spots I saw, as well as I bought an insecticide to use tonight. The good news here is that none of my other plants seem to be infected or affected by the pests. I found some gnats so Iāll be spraying the insecticide on all of my plants as a preventative, and quarantining the ones close by to the orange prince. Iām still learning how to do all of this, so thanks for all of your help and I hope yāall have a lovely day. š Iāll update in a week or two.
Soooooā¦. Iām not familiar with very many flowering plants, especially rosesā¦. This is a lavender mini rose I had picked up from Publixā¦. What in the world do I do with this to help it survive? Itās currently in a south facing window (gets most of the daylight hours). Watered when the soil is dry a knuckle deep.
Has anyone heard that using small rocks on top of your soil will help keep fungus gnats from laying their eggs in your soil?
Hi all! I posted at the start of this year about my Lucky Bamboo, Groot, and how he had a leaf that had just started to turn brown/yellow. I took everyone's advice and trimmed off the small part and I've been keeping up with taking off any brown spots - they were very rare, but I made sure to trim them. I won't lie, I fell off of consistently watering him, and we moved him up to our bedroom on our desk. I fell into a pretty bad depression shortly after returning from a week long vacation with my boyfriend - it was a great vacation, and I had watered him before leaving - at the beginning of last month, and I didn't really water him at all... I feel horrible about it but I had been glancing occasionally to check levels, he was fine. Today I looked and immediately jumped to action - he had about half water, and a bunch of yellow leaves (picture 1). I gently pulled the leaves I could off, then trimmed off what was left while trying not to cut the main stem. I then decided to go farther and do something I was too scared to before (thanks adrenaline) and I carefully took him out of the bottle - he definitely lost some roots, but I wanted to take out the rocks because I wasn't sure if they were helping, and I think some were dyed (picture 3), I rinsed off the roots and I cleaned the upper rim of the bottle as well as removed the string. I decided to move him to the dining room, as well, as our room is kept in the dark a LOT due to me working nightshifts and he gets very rare sunlight (picture 2) and we have a wax melter on the desk as well. I want to know if anyone has any advice to help him more? I'm worried about that main tall stem because thats where all the yellow leaves were sprouting from. I'm thinking of getting some water fertilizer, so some recommendations would be great.
African violet - aphid outbreakš© Any suggestions how to treat an African violet since you can't get it's leaves wet?
PLEASE help!! My entire collection it seems is at risk. I donāt know what started this exactly, but from what I can recall, my triostar bit the dust pretty fast with similar symptoms. Iāve never seen anything spread this quickly, it looks like some kind of fungus or bacteria or mold or something, but itās acting incredibly fast. All of the plants I have on my piano area are infected- leaves are yellowing and dropping like flies, some within hours!! None of my plants on the piano are touching, and some of them I just got within the last week. I just got a spider mite infestation and used diluted Neem oil and a 1:4 ratio of isopropyl alcohol and water on the infested ones and quarantined them, they are all healthy thus far. I did also spray Neem oil on the rest of my plants as well, but mostly only the ones in the piano area are affected with this. Iām just very confused since neem oil is also a fungicide⦠See pictures below and Iāll put more in the comments- PLEASE drop any advice in the comments, calling on my plants community right now!!!
Does anyone know why my pothos is turning yellow? Also, would I be able to plant it in soil? Or should I keep it in water?
