I had a weird idea and want to know y’all’s thoughts. Would it work if I put grow lights in my ceiling light fixtures that are already there? Could I get grow lights that would fit? lol. I don’t love the look of normal grow lights but would like to have some for a few of my plants. Thoughts? 😂😂
Looking for potting soil suggestions! I have a few monsterras, jade, bear paw, snake and a spider plant. I want to eventually upgrade their soil from premade mixes to customized soil. I don't know anything about creating your own soil mixes though, and would love advice and resources on how one would start learning.
Soltech Aspect [large) dupe/copycat. I took PPFD readings when I bought my first one of these and although I forgot what the readings were, I do remember them being higher than any lights I had tested. With a price of $66 compared to the $200 soltech it was a no brainer and I’ve bought 5 more since.
How expensive is it to run a large 40 watt grow light eight hours a day per month?
Can we talk about….. Moss Poles? The kind filled with sphagnum moss that need to be kept watered. I don’t have any set up. My fav plant YouTubers recommend them for climbers, especially philodendrons. Helps them grow Big & Strong. I think they’re kinda ugly tho 🫢 Do you use moss poles? What are yours made of? Are they worth the extra time, money, & effort?
I just discovered a spider mite infestation on a few of my plants today, and I need some pesticide recommendations. I used captain jacks dead bug brew for a thrips infestation and it worked great, but I looked on amazon to order more, and amazon tells me that I can’t order it from my location. Does anyone know of other pesticides that are very similar to CJDBB or have had good success rates?

hii! anyone have experience with Arber fertilizer? i have a lot of plants and i've never used fertilizer before (minus the occational fish water). the whole thing is a little intimidating to me, as ive seen some people getting fert. burns, and i'm just curious if there are any plants in specific that are more sensitive than others. correct me if im wrong, but ive heard that orchids have their own kind of fert that is best for them? TIA!!
Does anyone have any ideas on how to separate a saucer from a pot? I bought this planter at Big Lots and the saucer looks like it is glued on. Wondered if anyone has found any method on separating saucers that are glued together.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any good recommendations for moss poles and grow lights. I will be transitioning my plants from outside into houseplants and want to know what is the best thing for them to thrive in their new environment?
I just got this light meter and I tested it on this plant inside and even in my sunroom and I can’t figure it out. Point directly at the grow light the numbers are high but pointing towards the plant, right under the light, the numbers are so low. I feel like this isn’t right? It’s not really even reading anything in my sunroom. I’m not sure if the settings are just wrong or if I have a faulty meter.
This is the neatest thing! I put off buying a light meter for a long time, but now I’m glad I have it. Takes the guesswork out of knowing if a plant is “truly” getting enough light. And very easy to use. I chose this model because it’s the one recommended by my fav houseplant YouTuber (Sheffield Made Plants).
Another lighting question: What do you all use for your succulents? I’m tired of my succulents getting all stretched out and sad-looking, even though they’re under a grow light or fluorescent light. What type of light do you use (brand, size, shape, wattage), and how far do you have it from your succulents? Bless you if you don’t need any supplemental light for them… there’s not a spot in my house where that’s possible.

So this post is more about the Planta App than plants and I’m not sure anyone will have an answer but I figure it can’t hurt to ask. I have several pots with multiple plants in them. Two are succulent pots and three are decorative pots with various flowers and shrubs in them. Especially regarding the succulent pots, depending on the weather they maybe inside or outside. I am wondering if there is a way to designate multiple plants in a single pot and then place that pot in a site? For example, I have 4 succulents in a single pot. When they are inside they are in my living room. When I harden them to go outside they would be on my front porch and then eventually moved to the flowerbed. All of these sites have different light and moisture available but would be delivered equally to all the plants in that pot. The problem is, I can’t just say I moved the pot (and all the plants in it). I have to set up a site called succulent pot (living room) and another succulent pot (porch) and finally succulent pot (flowerbed). Then each plant needs to be manually moved individually and the pot information has to be updated for each of those locations. Is there anyway to group a set of plants to reflect them in a communal pot and then move that pot to specific sites as needed? If there isn’t a way to do this, where can we request this as a feature for future development?

It appears the majority of my house plants have hydrophobic soil. I’m going to run to town soon and see what I can find to make a chunkier soil mix for them. What do you all use in your chunky soil mixes and where do you get it from?
Has anyone tried the Purived Houseplant Food or Prop Drops? I keep seeing them advertised on TikTok and I was just wondering if anyone has actually used them and if they’re effective.
Anyone have experience using Repti bark as part of an aroid mixture? I would use it with perlite and soil for monsteras and pothos. I’ve heard it’s too small and can cause issues with the roots?? But others say that’s it’s a great cheap alternative.
