figured I’d show my reality of plant mom-ing! my begonia is doing great, rubber tree is doing great, and my njoy is happy. meanwhile, my dieffenbachia (upper left on the shelf) is losing 1/2 of it’s leaves and my monstera is really stretchy 😅😂 i even use grow lights for the monstera to counteract all the winter/cloudy lighting we have here in the southern PNW.
i hope this normalizes imperfect houseplants for other people!

What’s your favorite leaf that you can’t stop looking at this week? This is mine that I’ve been looking at for the past three months. Every time I enter my room.

Hello everyone! My Venus Fly Trap, Morticia, is thriving in a DIY greenhouse. She’s growing this small bud, and I don’t know what to do with it. Can someone please identify it for me? Thank you 😊

Our first herb garden right before we brought it in to darkness. My 9 year old son did this with me and we have no clue what we’re doing. The pic is getting chopped but it’s 10 different herbs. I know there’s too much water in the cilantro. I let my son do this step.

My homemade moss poles 💖 I make them out of the plastic from lettuce containers 🤣 this is a new design I came up with interlocking tabs that hold the pole together. I was inspired by the Rousseau grow poles

Someone showed me a bunch of sticks and asked sort of what I thought about taking them. I put up my usual “I know succulents” until taking a moment to think.
This is Wolf Lichen (I added it here as moss, but whatever) or Letharia Vulpina. It is used as a dye and was/is also toxic to mammals. (Because I have dogs, I have a big protective thing around it just in case - though they walk through whatever the heck is outdoors on walks four times a day.)
It grows on bark. That’s all my art head needed. The most low-key pollution meter (yeah, I’m going to cite my lichen’s mood now, a lot) and “how far can a living organism be pushed?” experiment all on a piece of bark shoved in the corner of a garage. Word.

I cut my wild and fabulous kalenchoe down and propagated some of tge stems down .
They are growing great and already sprouted out the stalk.
I have even put some rods up to see if my mother plant will grow up straight .

After a long day of adopting, repotting, & propagating, I am elated to introduce 5 new additions to our growing family:

• Pothos Pair Twins (Paco, NASA)
Can’t wait to update y’all on their growth throughout these next couple of months.
