Brassolaelia Richard Mueller x Cattleya Triumphans I just adore this plant! It blooms multiple times a year and the way the bloom color evolves is fascinating. This set started out a pale peachy yellow. The petals and sepals darkened to a lemon yellow while the watermelon in the lip is intensifying. By the time the holiday is over, the flowers will probably be a yellow orange. But then again, I don’t really know because they are always a little different. So fun playing the anticipation game with this one 😁 And there is a second set of blooms setting!

I sent a post earlier about my orchid, that didn’t get watered when it should’ve been; now I’m noticing that its fourth leaf is turning yellow. Even though she was repotted recently, and was very healthy, with nice green roots, I decided to remove her from her pot, and look at her roots. She looks really bad! I can see no healthy roots left. However, she is growing a tiny, new leaf, and does have a new stem coming. IS SHE GOING TO LIVE, at this point, in your opinion? TIA… 🤗💚🪴

I have had this orchid for two years, and she has bloomed both years. About two months ago, I repotted her into a 5”pot, with rePOTme dark imperial orchid mix, and some sphagnum moss, since reviews said the mix had tendency to be a bit dry. My only problem was, I wasn’t sure when to water her, since it was a new, very airy soil. I asked for some help online, and one person told me that she waited until the leaves got wrinkly, before she watered her orchids. I thought, I can do that, and so I did! (I waited until the leaves of my orchid, got wrinkly… 🥲.) Unfortunately, she got too dry, and proceeded to have three of her leaves turn yellow, which I finally removed. Her leaves still have not returned to that smooth, glossy, dark green. But, she is trying to push up a new leaf, after all that! HOW OFTEN WOULD YOU WATER THIS ORCHID? Thanks for your help… 🤗💚🪴 PS. The first pic is of her former beautiful self; the second pic is of her damaged current self.

Does anyone know what this leaf-like growth is on my orchid’s newest spike? I’ve looked some stuff up, but nothing seems to match this. Please let me know if you have an idea. 😊

Last July I rescued a beautiful striped phalaenopsis orchid from a Lowe’s. It was on clearance and leaves were completely floppy . I knew it was a long shot as it had 3 spikes of flowers and clearly all its energy was going into those. I got it home and cleaned up and there was literally NO root system just a big mound of mush. Once it was cleaned up and repotted even the two air roots quickly shriveled up to nothing. The plant (now bare root) sat in the window for months getting misted once a day. Unfortunately nothing I did seem to make a difference (plant lights, root soaks, fertilizer etc.) I just watched as one by one the leaves yellowed and dropped off. Still…no new roots. Finally the fourth of its five leaves dropped off one night leaving only a single, very floppy leave with old residual filament roots and nothing else. I had resigned myself to fact that this plant was just too far gone when I got it. The morning after leaf number four dropped I noticed the 5th leaf looked a little less shriveled. When I picked it up, the leaf supported itself instead of flopping around! No new roots but it was still fighting. This morning I went to give it its daily misting to discover it is pushing a new leaf! It appears to have the tiniest of root bud coming out the side of the leaf base. I’m just looking at this small plant fighting with everything it has to survive and grow and how amazing and resilient nature is.

Brassavola nodosa ’Little stars’ I didn’t think I would get any blooms from this one this year but BAM! Four lovely little fellows surprised me this morning (they’ve probably been open for about a week). And I see two more spikes developing. Hurrah!

Also, I had my orchid flowering and then naturally they fell off. I haven’t touched any of the (spikes? Stems?) that they fell off of, but should I? Or should I leave it. This is what it looks like at the moment.

Hi guys! Update on the orchid I found dumped outside a convenience store — I can see new growth from the top of the leaves (is this another leaf? I’m not sure how it works…) and two green node thingies (are these roots?) 😁

After a year of rehab and repotting I finally am getting a new stem on one of my orchids, I got this from my mom so I don’t know what the color bloom will be but excited to see both of these with thriving roots and growing!

I believe I slightly overwatered an orchid, but I’m not completely sure. I really thought that I’d let it dry out enough but I guess not 😢 One of the leaves has yellowed and I’m not really sure what to do about that. I know how to prune a lot of plants but orchids have just always confused me when it comes to that. How and can you prune orchid leaves? Any advice? Thank you!
