Hi guys ! Iâve acquired 2 orchids from a neighbor Iâm new to orchids Iâve been wanting one for a while but just havenât purchased one myself . Even I can tell these poor babies are in bad shape . They are super dehydrated so Iâve been soaking the roots during the day & letting them dry overnight to rehydrate but not cause rot . Any tips would be great . I do see there are some good roots left & cut back the bad ones . Fingers crossed . These pics are day 2 of soaking I just poured the water out of the pots for the night .

Hey everyone! My mom has a few orchids she loves but one of them got knocked over by our cat and the stem broke off. This was years ago and hasnât grown much since. The leaves are perfectly healthy but itâs looked like this for a very long time. Thereâs also some roots that donât look the best which Iâll include pictures of. Any advice is greatly appreciated! She wants it to be able to bloom again so bad but also wants to know if itâs a lost cause.
Hi there! My mom just gifted me an orchid that my grandma could no longer take care of. Iâm sure it just needs lots of love and attention but I was wondering if there might be anything else Iâm missing. Also should I cut off the dead stems? Any tips would be appreciated as this is my first ever orchid!
Hi! My orchid has this root that is coming out from the top of the pot and it has some brown and yellow spots as you can see in the picture. What does this mean? And how do I fix it? Thank you!!
Hi friends! This is my first time owning an orchid. I bought this one yesterday at a plant festival/nursery nearby. I was wondering if someone could tell me if this is a root or a new little baby coming in? Also any tips & tricks are welcome! Thanks! đ«¶đ»
Hi all. Iâm very new to plant parenting. My mini isnât doing so well. I repotted her 2 weeks ago but her leaves are looking a bit leathery. I was excited that she seems to have a new spike, but not sure. Any suggestions welcome.
I donât understand why orchids have the reputation for being high maintenance. Over the past month I have not been able to pay as much attention to the collection. The Easter cactus, anthurium and bougainvillea are throwing fits, while the orchids are acting like they donât need me. Iâm even getting a flush of new flowers. đž Recently Iâve been thinking about reducing the number of plants in my collection, and now I have a good idea which Iâd weed out first. đ
Hi everyone, when I was watering my orchid I saw something strange. I circled it in red and itâs really soft. Iâm not sure if itâs normal. I wanted to know if anybody could help me.
I needed some variety with my orchids. I already have 6 phalaenopsis and two dendrobiums. Here I have added an oip. crimson pride (not on the app and requested an add), key lime stars, and popcorn orchid. Yay!
Hi! I am new to this group and to orchids. My grandmother gave me an orchid and its leaves are falling off and has never had stems. Iâm not sure what she needs but she gets plenty of light and water.
I was transferring my orâkidsâ to a hanging plant instead of a potted plant. And I noticed my tiny orchid had a new leaf growing. đđ„čđ I had to repot her (due to aphids) while she was blooming and I lost all the blooms. She has been my problem child. And I wanted to share this with yâall because yâall understand how big of a deal this is. And on a side note. I wanted to share a pic of the reason why I am making my plants able to hang in the window. His name is Leo he is a sassy, sphynx rescue. He keeps knocking off my orchids and made one of my orchids leaves droop (on the larger orchid) and one of my other plants is now in my plant icu because he broke the pot that is was in and it cut the plant. But he is also my baby boy and adored by almost all who meet him. Any ways! Sorry for the long post! Hereâs a cookie! đȘ
I bought this mini orchid and itâs in moss. The roots look kind of bad, should I repot it in orchid bark?
Hey everyone!! Question⊠should I have trimmed my orchid? It has lots of off shoots with flowers now from the same stem but I havenât seen many orchids like this. Did I miss a trimming before the summer came and the buds started to grow? Also any recommendations for where I should cut it after all the flowers die? I had another stem previously that withered and died before the winter. It hasnât grown back though. Iâm worried if I cut this one, that will be the end of this orchid. What do you recommend? Thanks!!
Hello! I have this pretty purple orchid plant ⊠have it for maybe almost a year and just had to repot it because it was small and root was growing out and even at top of it Bought Black gold orchid potting mix , MG perlite ( was trying to find black gold but unfortunately there were none only MG perlite ) and black gold organic all purpose potting soil. And I hope it grows very well the roots were pretty healthy! Maybe one or two have white roots but mostly bright green
Hi! Iâve had this orchid for 2 weeks and it was doing great, with a new flower opening every couple of days. Now one of the new flowers has started to wilt and today the second flower from the bottom is starting to close in on itself which is how the wilting started originally for the first flower. I thought I was maybe underwatering it so I watered it some more yesterday. Is this because of underwatering? And Is the plant still salvageable? Or will all the flowers start to wilt? Thank you!!
Hey, I just mounted this orchid and I'm wondering whether anyone has any tips? I am trying this as an experiment.
First time taking care of orchids. I had received them in February fully bloomed. They dropped their flowers a few weeks ago. Are the stems just ready to go? Also help!? Why are their air roots turning black ? Any tips?
Iâm reposting this to this group in hope to find some help. This root feels line itâs rotting on my moth orchid. It is a new root that quickly grew starting about 2 months ago. It was not firm so I tried watering it because it needed water anyways. Please help and Iâll try to reply to anyone needing more info quickly. Thanks so much!
