Hey, I just mounted this orchid and I'm wondering whether anyone has any tips? I am trying this as an experiment.

Wanted to do that but I heard you have to water it every day because of moisture retention. Good luck

I heard that too. So far I've been spraying it every 2nd day and seems to be fine so far. I will dunk the bottom half in water when I water my other orchids in bark.

Iâve heard soaking is helpful and may retain more water, but if you live in a dry environment, it may still need constant attention. If and when you need to remove it from the mount- as bark breaks down, or you need to trim away dead roots etc, you will want to soak it thoroughly to minimize damage to your healthy roots as you try to unmount.

Ok, that's useful advice. Thank you.

Looks like a clean job to me. One thing to consider is the jute rope will rot eventually. Most people use finishing line or some other rot-resistant material to secure the plant to the mount. I have considered mounting some of mine but was considering a Cattleya, Brassavola or some other type that isnât as thirsty as a Phal. I have a couple of Vandas that want water daily and keeping on top of that is tough.

I have only used it to secure it until the roots attach to the bark. I will replace is necessary. Ok, I only have had Phal orchids and I like how they look in the bark.
