Hi! I got this orchid a while ago when she had two stems with flowers. The flowers eventually died and when I tried to save the stems so it would reflower only one made it. My stem is now growing this weird thing that I’ve never seen/ noticed before. Is this the stem growing more? Ive never owned an orchid before so I really hope it’s not something bad!

Hi, can anyone help me please? I have a new Miltoniopsis Orchid that was bought for me as a gift. Unfortunately, they decided to repot it a few days before giving it to me into a standard houseplant compost. 🙈 I quickly repotted her into orchid bark with added seramis as that's all I had to hand but she's not happy. I was thinking of repotting again, would a mesh pot be OK with 50% pine bark which has added Seramis and 50% Sphagnum Moss? I was thinking the bark and mesh pot will provide aeration and and moss will help retain moisture as I believe these aren't like Phals, they don't like to dry out. What are your thoughts please? She has 3 flower buds and 2 flowers that were limp. Please help me save her 🙏

👋 Plant Newbie here! I have another new growth on my orchid! Is it a flower stem or root? I chopped off the flower stem’s when it appeared to be dead 💀 so I’m anxiously awaiting for a new stem! 🤔 Thanks!

It’s that time of year! A consistent bloomer, with a distinctive nighttime only fragrance, easy to care for and vigorous grower. I have 2 directions of growth that continuously develop new ones every year, but I only get blooms on one side, usually alternating. Gonna have to try to crack the code on how to get both sides to bloom at once, it would be such a pretty bloom show. Any thoughts? Maybe I’ll up the fertilizer a bit? I don’t think there’s a spot in my house where it would get more light… 🤔

Update! Context: a week and a half ago, me and my mom were looking at orchids for my bday, and she suggested go to the shop in person. A few days later i asked all or you what I should get, and I decided to get an onicodium (I think that's how you spell it) and I had to go to a different shop and I got this baby! Any tips?

I'm going orchid shopping Wednesday, any ones u think I should look for? I only have a few and idk which ones I should get :) (preferably with tiny ish flowers. TIA!)

Any advice on orchid care during the winter? The optimal light in my place is in front of window but unfortunately it gets quite cold in the winter. I want to make sure my orchids are getting enough light but staying warm too. Any advice is welcome!

Trouble with Orchids in water. I combined a new (gifted) orchid with my older orchid that I had for 2 years (never bloomed again after cutting stems) into this vase to experiment with water propagation. I made sure the water level was not touching the stem of each orchid. After repotting the gifted one I noticed it had white mold on roots and I sprayed with hydrogen peroxide. It has been two weeks like this and shown two photos of how they are looking. The gifted one doesn’t seem to being doing well as the roots are green BUT squishy. My other older orchid seemed to have caught the root rot? With the white fuzz around the stem but nonetheless the roots are still strong and green.

Hi! So far so good with my first orchid, she hasn’t given me a flower but I’m hopeful she will once it’s spring again! Ive noticed this growth near the middle of the… stem? I’m not sure what to call it. I’m hopeful it’s a new leaf so if anyone can confirm that would be great! Ive also noticed the bottom leaves have gotten a little yellow around the edges (I assume it’s because they are shaded by the others but I just want to make sure it’s boring I’m doing, picture of roots added since I don’t know if they look heathy or not.

Me and my mom are going shopping for orchids next week for my bday! (It's in December but I don't wanna miss any ones I saw on the website...) Ill post the ones I get when I get them! It should be Wednesday. Also, whats your orchid Ick? Mine is my cataleya... I nurture it all year, and then pbbt.. A single flower from a year of work.. T-T

I found this watering today. It wasn’t there last week. It’s hard to tell the upper (left) from the underside (right). Does anyone know what it is? Much thanks for your reply. This is kinda creepy and I have never had an orchid before. I might try to get a book. Any suggestions? I’m sure there are a bunch!

An orchid one of my friends gave me grew a spike and a keiki! Any tips for the baby? I think its a phal... I'm not 100% sure tho... I'm at another friends house rn but I can put a full pic in the comments on Monday if that helps any :) Side note: if anyone has a foxtail orchid, can you show a pic? I wanna get one and I don't know anything about them lol. TIA!

I am newer to orchids, but everything I’ve read says you should not fertilize them when they are in bloom. I use the Planta suggested fertilizing schedule and they have me fertilizing my orchid, which is in bloom. Maybe they just have no way of knowing it is? It’s not actually a question that’s asked on the plant profile. Should I just skip it?
