I spotted some dendrobiums at Lowe’s this afternoon and was curious if there was a major difference between their care and phals. I didn’t purchase one but wanted to learn more before bringing another plant home lol. Most of my collection is phals but I have one lady slipper and one cattleya, which are both doing well. Also, I was shocked to see the wide variety of orchids at Lowe’s: they even had some loose cattleyas and other varieties that I haven’t seen outside of an orchid show.

I have a few orchids that unfortunately I have not been taking care of them properly but would like to revive them if possible. I normally keep them inside in the living room window but since it’s summer here I took them outside to get some sun. Do they have a chance to be revived? I currently have them soaking in water for 20 mins

The last blooms fell of my Valentine’s Day gift a couple days ago and I got around to repotting this morning. I could see a few dead roots in the nursery pot so I was excited to trim them off. I was not expecting this much root in a tiny 4 inch pot, and didn’t know he had a cage. No one outs Baba Voss in a cage!! Here are 3 or my 4 Orchid babies 😍😍

Sad days ahead I’m afraid… Despite my best efforts and all my gathered knowledge… this set of rescues just are not responding to treatments. I’m afraid the root rot was too severe by the time they found me… I’m still going to tend and care for them until they tell me they are done, just feeling let down and like a failure with this set…. (This group of sick babies were cast off by family members to a deceased resident I cared for, I’m wondering if they are sad and miss her and giving up… a bit of a bittersweet thought)

I got this baby orchid a couple weeks ago and she came like this. I gave her orchid food and a grow light and nothing to seems to be working. She’s already lost 2 flowers. Any ideas???

OooKay so I took y'all's advice the other day and I bought the rePotme clear orchid pots , and this bark mix from them as well, and I watched the miss working girl beginner video on how to transplant one of these orchids................................ And then I read the comment section of the video and it seems like 90% of the people who took out the moss whilst the plant was in bloom, lost the blooms or maybe they only lasted for a month or two... So it spooked me 😩 cuz she seems happy although I haven't looked at her root yet, so I'm going to put her in the clear orchid pot and then I guess put her back in the decorative pot I guess I have some questions still like can I keep the little roots that are sticking out what's all that I can tell when it needs to be watered it makes a lot easier LOL at least can I keep one or it's just better to lift it out and look, I wanted to find out what everybody else's experiences were if they transplanted while in bloom? I almost want to just keep it in the Moss and just be cool with it like you said watch The Roots it was pretty cool the roof basically sort of transformed to Green in front of my eyes LOLI know we're supposed to repot in the Spring, but what if I waited till the blooming. Was over and transplanted it then anyways...🙄 That way if it goes into some type of shock at least the blooms won't be affected because they'll be gone and it will be a dormant anyways right? Or do they go dormant if you have indoors in humidity and heat during the Spring? Or do they like to feeling a cold room for the winter? 🙏💕

Hey All, I just came into possession of an orchid in not great health. It has no leaves and small roots, but they seem health and the stem is strong. It was in dirt which didn't help and had rot that has been treated. I have put it in water but I'm not sure what to do now and if it can even come back from this. Thanks everyone!

I hope I can get a clarification. I use the app to remind me to water/feed my plants. I have three moth orchids The app indicates that one should be watered every 9 days, the second every 11 days, and the third every 15 days. I do not know why there is such a difference. So, how often should I water the plants?

Root bound! I acquired this oncidium in late Feb and I haven’t been able to check the roots until today. I was waiting for it to finish blooming and for new growth to start. I unpotted it today and found this root blob! It’s a 4” square root blob. It looks very root bound and I don’t see any old orchid media mixed in the blob. Are these roots ok? They don’t feel mushy or smell weird. I see fresh roots. Should I tease this blob apart? Or repot the whole root ball without disturbing it with new orchid bark. There are new pseudo bulbs growing too. Any advice? TY!

Still trying to save this orchid I purchased from Lowe’s hardware store that was half “dead”. See Lavender pot in my plant page. I just saw someone using leca and clear pot with their orchid. I’ve ordered the leca. I just put plant in glass cup and cut off the bad roots placed 2 drops of prop drops. Any suggestions on helping me make it happy and healthy again?

This is one picky lil plant let me tell you. I have been attempting to be patient and let it run its cycle to repot but the root health and overall plant health has degraded. The stem started browning at the top now and lost two bottom leaves in a matter of two months. I trimmed the stem above the highest available closed node, and added moss around the top to attempt to hold more moisture. Repot me.com premium Phal mix is set to be delivered Friday and hopefully it will save her. Any tips to help with root rot and repotting a sick orchid?
