Is my phalaenopsis “Jia Ho Moon” trying to bloom? The little bits sticking out to the left and right have been growing very slowly since…April? They don’t look like roots or leaves…but if it is blooming, isn’t it taking its sweet time?

Oncidium sphacelatum I love this time of year. Not only are the phals putting on new spikes, this one graces my home with a lovely show of yellow flowers. This is one of my favorites. This particular type of orchid was the first non-phal I was able to successfully grow and rebloom. That plant is long gone, but it started my life long love of oncidiums. Happy Sunday!

You guuuuuuuys! First flowers on this one. It’s only slightly fragrant, I’m getting a hint of that peppery zygo scent, but I’m guessing it’ll get stronger on future bloomings. There are five buds and the flowers have a really lovely deep, purpleish black tone to the petals. I thought the lip would be more red instead of a fuchsia like color, but it’s lovely. 😍

My orchids crown is yellowing more and more now I cut off some leaves a while back does someone know what this is?

Hi all! I know this is technically a pest question but it’s very orchid-specific, so I thought I’d ask here. I have mealy bugs IN THE CROWN of my orchid. I have wiped out what I can with a dry q-tip but I am TERRIFIED to get any sort of moisture including pest treatment (I usually use neem oil). Any thoughts or advice on what to do about this? Thank you in advance!

Hi I have just ordered a new orchid. Does an orchid need to be in a window. My house is south facing so there’s a lot of light in the room but I was hoping to put her on my desk

I think my cymbidium sinense is on the rebound, thanks to you all! I cut some of the splitting leaf tips and dusted with cinnamon, put it under a grow light and on top of a humidity tray. The cut leaves have not re-browned or split, so I think the cat may be innocent (WHAT DO YOU MEAN OF COURSE SHE’S INNOCENT, she says). In any case, here’s hoping I can keep her going. Don’t tell the other plants, but she’s one of my favorites.

I recycled a used Cotten candy bucket into a multi holed container for my orchid to be repotted in and used fresh new wood chunks with a small amount of rocks mixed in on the surface.

Spot(s) on orchids? I always thought maybe it was just a sunburn but I want to make sure in case I’m wrong. - Orchid with multiple round dots is an Enc. Nursery Rhyme hybrid - Orchid with one giant spot is a Mps. Renee Komada Any ideas what it could be?

Can anyone tell me if this is very bad as in disease or simply a case of overwatering or too much light. It’s on a new cane. The roots seem healthy and the new cane seems very healthy but for that discoloration.

I know it’s normal for orchids to go dormant but I can’t help but feel sad seeing her poor flower all dead. How long should I expect before another bloom? Also is it too early for her to loose her flowers? Just a worried plant mom

hi! where do you guys get your orchids from? all the ones ive had under my care have died to root rot - but then again i have only gotten them from trader joes and those have all pretty much come in bad condition any fav sellers? TIA

Hey, what should I do? I repotted this guy around 5 months ago, after doing so the roots did not look great, so I took extra care of him. He started growing quite a lot and now his roots are coming out of his pot, I have another like him, should I trim It or repot?
