Ohmygosh- went to orchid fest today, came home with a bunch of plants off my wishlist. All are in bud, not bloom, so I don’t want to post them just yet… but wowsers, what a great variety they had at Hausermann’s.

I rescued an orchid today, its my first ever orchid. I do not really know what to do. The substrate was decomposed and soggy, rotting the roots a bit so I chopped the dead roots off and repotted it into mostly bark with charcoal and sphagnum. I didn’t water the substrate but i soaked the roots. Didn’t actually see any air roots, I assume the dryness of safeway got to it. Had 4 sets of leaves i trimmed the bottom off, they were completely yellow. The next 2 are in the process of yellowing off. What can I do for her??? Is this setup fine?? I’ll reply in the comments the LUX

HELP!!! I’ve had this Vanda for two years and it has flowered 3 times for me. However, in the last few days I am seeing the leaves brown on one side of the plant near the base and it is starting to spread. What is it and how do I stop it?!?

Paph. Concolor finally blooms again. Seems like it’s been a few years since its last show. I love this little slipper orchid.

Hello orchid lovers of Calgary :) I decided to try to find an experienced orchid grower who would be interested to babysit on a paid basis my entire orchid collection during the upcoming winter season. If you have enough space and energy, pest and viruses free, healthy environment, good knowledge of a different species and their needs, courage and determination, please let me know your thoughts and questions, how much would it cost etc. My collection: 21 well nourished young healthy plants including 4 weak very young plants that require intensive care. Care details, fertiliser, Planta App account will be provided to the person who is ready to do this high commitment work for me. Looking forward to your thoughts or recommendations. P.S. Will post again in October :) Thank you :)

Happy to see it is blooming again after some period of me not being able to provide the best care for it. This is one of my first plants. 15 buds. Simple but beautiful orchid in my collection.

There is some bright windowsill sunshine on the cloudy and rainy day in Calgary. It was blooming for me for the whole summer.

First time this bloomed. It was potted Dec/21 from Cloud’s nursery. Purchased last year as NB and is right on schedule. 😀Phal. Chiada Fiona.

Does anyone know what this is on the leaf... My orchid seems super healthy apart from this.. the white residue is fungal treatment btw I applied about a week ago. It seems to have made minimal difference. I really don't want to lose her 😥

There was a small accident and something fell on my orchid. The new baby leaf was broken and the topmost leaf is now loose. I have tied it back together and fingers crossed it survives- has anyone else had a plant come back from something like this?

Does this look healthy? If I need to cut it where should I make the cut?

How can I help these roots? Should I cut them off? I don't want to kill this beauty.

What is this. It was my flowering stem should I cut it?

CVS was tossing orchids in the trash. I asked to have them. They thought I was crazy. I bought them home, cleaned, cut and replanted. Let’s see what happens!

This is a very old orchid - it was my husband’s grandmother’s! Other than these black spots, I believe it looks healthy. I repotted it about a month ago after 2 yrs in the same pot. (I’m new to orchids). I had to cut away all of the roots. Now they’re beginning to pop out everywhere - whew! The orchids are watered 1x/wk and the spits aren’t getting worse or better. ???

Some of the older canes on my den have been turning smaller and wrinkled, is this part of the regular aging process or am I not providing enough water? The growths from this year seem fine, and I think a flower spike is starting to grow, if that makes any difference

Hello, my orchid was given to me and it's got very healthy leaves and a long branch the tip was brown so I trimmed it down to a couple of the bulbs that stick out was that the right thing to do? If not what should I do for it to start growing Flowers?
