I bought a tiny philodendron Brasil plant to hang in the half-bathroom on a shelf. Well, it took a massive tumble to the floor. I repotted it with fresh soil, and the mother plant is doing okay. However, these two leaves broke clean off in the fall. I’ve been trying to propagate them in water for a couple weeks, but there has been no change. Should I just plant them in soil and see what happens? (The brown is leftover soil I couldn’t get off from being in that original potted plant)

Trying to propagate these string of turtles cuttings. I’m new to caring for plants, so any suggestions would be appreciated! I’m just keeping the ends in water and changing the water every few days. Is there a better way to do this? Are they looking ok? Should I keep it out of direct light?

Would it be ok to separate any of these babies and add to a new pot or is it better to let them get a lot more crowded in their pots? I’ve had them less than two years.

I just got a gorgeous top jade cutting from a prop swap, what is the best way for it to grow roots? In water or directly in like cactus soil?

The second picture is the finicky Polly , which is the mother plant. The first is the little baby Polly that I grew.

Hello! I got this Alocasia a few weeks ago and she’s doing well with lots of mature leaves and already popped up 4 more! It looks like 3 separate plant at this point so I’m wondering if I should divide it? Nervous since I’ve never done a division of a plant this large!

So, I recently walked around one of my favorite local nurseries after a big freeze in hopes of finding my wish list plants with minimal damage and came across a philodendron micans with very small but seemingly healthy leaves. They are very pink, so they're going to be placed in my plant cabinet. Is there any tried and true tricks to get these babies popping out new growth?I plan on repotting it in about a week or so because the soil is so wet and cold. Will probably be using the same mix my PPP is in and loving

Dear Plant community members, I recently bought 4 beautiful tropical plants from a store in NY during my 1 day visit there and because I was in a hotel I had to leave the plants in the car in sub zero temperatures :(. I try to cover it with a blanket tho to give it somewhat protection but apparently that didn’t help. Please advise what can I do to bring them to life? Please help!

I got a snake plant leaf from my art teacher ( who is also a plant fiend) last year. I cut it into three and they all grew good roots in water so I planted them up at the start of the autumn. When should I expect to see new growth do you think? I water when the soils dry but it is next to quite a drafty window. Thank you! x

Another victim of the cold???? What do I do I can’t tell if the root system is still in tact with the top parts of the stems looking like this… it was so so healthy and just turned so quickly. I’m debating cutting the healthy strings that are left and restarting?

Some of my plants aren’t doing to well I can only assume it’s because we’ve had a sudden drop in weather into the below 0 region this one’s started growing crystals on the underside of its leaves, and I can only assume they are mini icicles. It’s a prop I got from the neighbour was healthy when I got it. It had nuts for a little bit, but I started adding less water and I moved it to a new location out of direct sunlight which is really seem to help. It was thriving growing, but now there’s hardly any of it left. It’s a Chinese money plant I believe any tips? One of my flatmates has another propagation from the same person that has in water and is doing a lot better, so I was wondering if I should give that a try and remove it from the soil ? (I read that putting all your plants together when it gets cold helps so I’ve done that and it’s now live location with more light to warm him up a little)

Anyone know if it’s ok to separate a baby moth orchid from the parent when it’s about to bloom or should I wait?

I accidentally propagated some Tradescantia Jose Puig cuttings in a ziplock bag. I planned to place the cuttings in soil the day after clipping them. So, I put them in the bag with a wet paper towel to prevent dryness overnight. It fell to a chair seat near a window during cleaning. Found it three weeks later after moving the chair to make room for pots brought in from the cold. I will put them back into the original pot to make the plant fuller.

Can you prop golden pothos by applying rooting hormone to the cutting (making sure there’s at least one node) and sticking it in the soil? I’ve tried water propping these, but I’d like to try soil.

I rescued this monstera from Home Depot a couple days ago, and gave it some of the purived plant food you see behind it, is this a new leaf starting to grow already? This is my first monstera, and yes I know it’s damaged.. but this is exactly how I bought it.

Propagating my pothos in water has been one of the most rewarding things in my plant mom journey haha, it’s almost guaranteed gratification, and it doesn’t need much. I don’t seal the open cuts, I don’t add fertilizer in the water, no misting… I just forget them in water and change the water once a week and in 2-3 weeks they have enough roots to be repotted. I am also propagating for the first time a heart leaf philodendron using the same method. and it is already showing some new roots. Im so happy! (ps: the two droopy leaves on the right vase are a cutting that I put into soil too soon, the cutting didn’t have any roots and I stuck it in soil to see if I could grow roots like that. It didn’t work for me and as soon as I noticed the leaves were dying I removed it from soil and put it back in water so it can properly root)
