Excited to add a new plant to my collection! A coworker gave me this Heartleaf Philodendron cutting, and I want to make sure I give it the best start. Any tips on successfully propagating it? Water or soil…what’s worked best for you? Also, how long should I wait before potting it up? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Hi! I have two propagations in the works that I’m hoping to get some advice/reassurance on! The first picture is my string of pearls. A friend of mine gave me a bunch of tiny little cuttings (5-6 roots all maybe 1-3 in long) of her string of pearls. I laid the cuttings on top of some succulent soil and poked the roots down into the top a bit. I’m doing my best to keep it moist under my grow light…any other advice? The second picture is a variation of a donkeys tails (it’s a really long scientific name, I’ll have to check). I followed the same process as I did with the string of pearls, but this strand was a bit more sad when I got it. So it feels like I should be doing more to help it take root! I live in the Midwest so true sunlight can be very hit or miss this time of year (it’s been rainy and gloomy for days now). Anything else I can do to ensure these lil babies make it?

I have this polkadot plant here and it’s getting too tall for its own good. How would I go about propagating this so that I can make it shorter and hopefully in the future more full looking? Just cut and place in water?

I’m thinking of getting a very small and unrooted cutting of Variegated String of Hearts and I want to be as prepared for it as possible. Does anyone have any tips or hints about raising this plant? And a guide on it? I am extremely new to plants and I would love to learn how to keep it as happy and healthy as possible. Thank you! 😊

Do we think this propagation will take?? Was repotting and upgrading the stake for my mini monstera last night when the stem snapped. I love the look and length of the plant, so I’m trying to propagate it in soil from where it broke off. Do we think this system will work? The plant is in very good health otherwise and has been putting out consistent growth throughout the winter and into the spring. Also, do we think the mother plant will be able to put out new growth after this break? I’ve attached pics for reference.

HELP 😭😭 my variegated SOH is trying to die and idk how to propagate her. I’m notoriously horrible at propping succulents. She has plenty of life left to salvage though thankfully. I’m not even sure why she’s doing, I’m guessing she got too dry because the pot is very small because I’m scared to repot it too quickly.

hey all!! ive been propagating this mystery plant for a few weeks and the roots are starting to get pretty long and theres a new leaf sprouting from the node, are these roots long enough to go ahead and pot this plant? Or should I leave it in water a bit longer??

Finally got to put my polka dot props back in its pot to fill her out 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 they survive, they’ve got big roots on them. Noticed a huge growth spurt on a couple of stems that has flowers from each node hope she continues to be happy!

I have this beautiful Callisia Repens and she has been growing nonstop since I got her, filling out the pot I put her in. She has shoots that fall over the side of the pot and I want to clean her up a bit to stimulate new growth, and id love to have two of her. Only I’m not sure how to propagate her properly. I have tried cutting shoots and placing them in water for a while but I didn’t see much happening with roots or anything. Any advice is greatly appreciated 🫶🏻

Question about Snake Plant baby: I just noticed my lovely Snake Plant is growing a little baby under her leaves (don’t mind the brown spots on mama, those were there when I rescued her from the clearance section). This is my first Snake Plant, & I am unsure if I should plan on separating the two once the baby is larger, or if they will just grow in harmony together. I am not planning on doing anything yet, I want to see what happens as the little one gets larger, just wanted to be proactive & ask now. Edit: if it was a tall/upright Snake Plant, I would just let it happen as that would make it fuller, but since this one’s leaves spread wider, I am unsure. Thanks!

Hi there! New to the group and have a few questions! Had a semi large burros tail that became very hydrophobic and decided to repot with fresh soil and it was just not working for whatever reason, I lost a lot of leaves trying to repot and now I’m left with this. They are sitting in a south east window with a grow light above them to help once the sun moves. My questions are, how often should I water them? Do they need to be covered for humidity to help them root? I ran out of patience with the two bottoms dishes so would it better to space them out (like the first one) or would leaving it like that do any harm? Any feedback would be sooo appreciated as this is stressing me out and do not want to fail for who knows how many times already! 😊
