Hey y’all! I just got this silver inch plant that I plan on using some of the clippings for hydroponics! I know that these plants are usually OK in compact soil, but is this too root bound?

Hi plant friends! I saved this plant from Lowe’s clearance, and saw that LECA is one of the recommended soil mediums that it can grow in. I decided to try something new, but wondering if anyone has any tips for me? Usually I’ve propagated in LECA, but never really grown a full plant in this medium. The LECA is used, and I filled it with water about halfway. I know first time LECA you cover with water, then next waterings are only half-filled. This was the amount of LECA it took to keep the plant sturdy. Any recommendations, tips, advice, corrections, concerns I should know about to help this plant thrive? I’ll take any and all suggestions. TIA!

Hi there! Sorry for the lengthy message. I switched a dieffenbachia into leca. It was declining and I found thrips on it. So, I rinsed it, did a total re-do/prop with a few of its healthier stems. Treated it with neem a couple of times. It bounced back. Then awhile later I found another thrip on it. This time I decided to use insectidal soap for a couple of weeks. Thought things were under control. Everything was fine for a few weeks, now, I found another couple of thrips...I've had it set away from any other plants. I don't know where they're coming from. None of my other plants have thrips, I have been beyond paranoid and I've been very watchful. I thought semi-hydro was going to help control pests. Any advice?

Hey guys, I got a lucky bamboo at the end of October and I've been keeping up with watering and everything but I don't see much progress of any sort. Based off of the photos please let me know if anything looks wrong regarding Cinnamon.. 🎍

My velvet alocasia...look at those roots...3 months in leca...still struggling to keep more than 2 leaves once a new one emerges, but only a young plant

I moved my alocasia Polly from soil to semi-hydro almost a month ago. I can’t tell if I should give up or put the roots back in.

Moving day! Six plants switched to leca: batik syngonium; limelight dracaena; dieffenbachia; 3 alocasias, dwarf, dragon breath, & longiloba.

I have a spider plant baby that I propagated in water. It currently has roots around 2". Can I put it in leca? I have no experience beyond reading about hydro/semi hydro at this point so if you have any recommended resources I'd love to have them!

I’m trying out Coleus in pon rn! Where i live coleus is more of an indoor plant, so i thought that i would try it out. I haven’t seen much talk about coleus in pon online

I’ve been experimenting with Fluval Stratum in a semi-hydro setup where the outer cup has LECA and water and the inner cup (with lots of drainage) is filled with Fluval, and the LECA wicks moisture up — my Monstera adansonii has thrived in it with gorgeous new growth. I’m wondering though, can plants stay in this setup long-term if I replace the Fluval as it breaks down and fertilize regularly, or is it more of a temporary solution? I’ve also heard great things about Alocasia in semi-hydro and I’m debating whether to move my Alocasia Jacklyn — I got her about a month ago with 3 leaves, she pushed out a 4th, and now one of the older leaves is dying (which I know is pretty common for Alocasias). She’s showing tons of roots at the bottom, so should I move her into Fluval now, wait until I see another new leaf, or just not risk it?

Hello! I just moved a pothos into leca. This is my first time having a plant in leca so if anyone has any tips or things they learned the hard way I’d greatly appreciate any wisdom 😊 also what do yall use for your nutrient solution?

Has anyone had success with growing a Croton in pon?

What would make a thriving plant in pon all of a sudden get root rot? My Dragon Scale Albo has been in pon since I've had it then one by one leaves started to die. When I went to go lift it up to check roots, it was just mush.

I’ve had these for over a year and they are getting bigger. Does anyone have monsteras in larger vases that do well? I’m thinking of combing and adding a pole for support? Thoughts….ideas
