SOS! I've had this Scalprum in perlite for months & got used to checking & finding zero progress. But yesterday when I gave it a tug I felt roots which was shocking given that the tip I had above the perlite was still completely closed. So I pulled it out and now I'm thinking I planted it upside down? What should I do now? Replant with roots/growth up?
So proud of my Jacklyn pushing out leaf number 3 😊… does anyone know how many leaves these can have at one time as it’s only ever had a max of 3 since I got it in September last year x
I did a huge chop and prop last year on my Micholitziana. When I repotted, I didn't cover the entire stalk with pon because I wasn't sure if it would get stem rot or not. She is starting to grow so my question is:1) Should I just fill the rest of the planter up with pon to help her develop more, stronger roots. OR 2) Do I gig her up and just fill the bottom with more pon and let her develop roots that way?
I am not an alocasia expert by a long shot, but this frydek (I’m pretty sure that’s what she is) has been doing great! I just moved three months ago and it just put out a big new leaf about two weeks ago! I had to go away for about 10 days so she didn’t get watered :( and now the new leaf looks like this. Could it still be forming? Or is it a water issue? I checked the roots and some are poking out the bottom of the pot and they look very healthy, no rot. Does anyone have any idea?💚
Help! My Black Velvet Pink Variagated Alocasia is curling! At first I thought it was forgot to water it or something but the soil was still moist. Can it be too much light? Few other Alocasia started turning their leaves down or on the side. They were doing fine for months and then out of nowhere most of my plants in the grow cabinet started acting weird
I was given a no ID baby alocasia. Does anyone here know what kind it is???
Loving the new leaf it’s already working on another 🥰. Hoping it grows more half moons I just love half moons!
How do you guys get your alocasia to grow large and not just die in the winter till the next summer? i live in southern ontario, is that just what’s gunna happen to them?
She’s got 2 flowers!! I chopped the one in the photo because it was done. She’s HAPPY!
How big do these guys normally get? The longest stem is about 26” long and they just keep growing! Do they ever need a support stick? Does it need to be re-potted? I don’t want to mess anything up, when I bought it, it was 1/3 this size (early May) and the largest leaf was less than 1/3 the size (now bigger than my hand).
A little baby alocasia!!!! omg!!!!
We went to the greenhouse just to look. This is my first alocasia. My husband convinced me to buy it, though he didn’t have to try very hard. I really hope I can keep it thriving.
At LONG LAST…Boa Celestine grew her new leaf🥹❤️😆😄
I think I posted my polly before, as I was so happy to have a new leaf from her. She was trouble from day 1, took me a long time to figure her out!! I almost tossed her several times... long story short, she was repotted recently and I braved propagating the corms... she gave me 6 total. All 6 have rooted, and I've got two sprouted!! This is a first for me!! I've never propagated any thing other than leaf cuttings. I'm so tickled!!
These babes are fun
I FOUND A WISH LIST PLANT! The Alocasia ‘Black Velvet’… I found 2 of them at Walmart (of all places), repotted them together. Named one Elvis & the other Sirius. 😄 Any tips on keeping them alive are welcomed & very appreciated. Wish me luck! 🖤
My frydek has put out two beautiful leaves recently — enjoying them while they last! 🤍
Hi! I’m fairly new to alocasia’s and I was wondering if that lightened green edges around the plant (it is the newest leaf that came out about 3-4 weeks ago) is an issue? I’ve already checked it and there don’t seem to be any pest issues but not sure if this is normal or might be an issue? Thanks!
Lookie here! My Boa Celestine her new leaf is almost opening up🥹❤️ Come on new leaf you can do it!
