I have two black velvets that are the same size and I got at the exact same time. Both are still in the nursery pots they came in with a mix that looks coco-coir heavy to me. Despite that, theyâre doing well. Both of them sit in ceramic pots (so around the nursery pots). One pot is white, the other is dark green. Theyâre next to each other with the same light, humidity, temperature, and airflow. So what I canât for the life of me figure out is why the soil in the white pot dries out twice as fast as the soil in the dark green one. Does anyone have any insights? Thanks ahead of time!

I have a beautiful black velvet Alocasia that I bought on Nov 6. I repotted it a few days later. Itâs doing ok - growing a new leaf and getting taller, although it has a curling leaf and a bit of browning on one leaf (Iâve got humidity problems).
However, now I want to put it in leca. Is it better to do it asap since the plant is already in a stress period, or wait several months to give it a break?
Thanks in advance!

Iâm reporting my Polly with arid soil and noticed this attached to the roots. I canât tell if itâs man made or if should leave it alone?

Looks like Polly isnât happy đ. I repotted my Polly about a month ago and it lost 3 small leaves and these are left. It looks like one is drooping and the stem looks pruny? Iâm worried because I increased the pot size itâs retaining too much liquid? I read that pon soil is best for alocasia but wondering if I should attempt to repot given itâs only been a month?

I would love some care tips on my plant!

Help please!!
Iâm not a plant mom, I just received this dragon alocasia scale plant as a gift and itâs dying on me now and I have NO clue what to do⊠please help!
I had this since feb so about 9months now, and before I was so sure it was going to die so I barely cared. But it somehow lived, and even thrived.. it had many leaves, but after I moved and repotted to a bigger pot, the nightmare began. It was growing large so I wanted to give it a big home. I repotted to a smart watering pot that had a string in the bottom that lets it self water etc⊠and since then it dropped so many leaves, now I only have 1 healthy one with 1 dead one and 1 new leaf.
I watered it a bit often cuz I freaked out, but I stopped. A couple days ago I completely took the plant out, dug out all the roots and trimmed all rotten mushy ones (also learned about corms!). But now itâs looking all curled and crispy, but the inside of the soil is still very wet. What is wrong with this guy?!
++I used multipurpose soil with highest rating from Amazon, has tree barks/pearlites(?) etc. No pests were detected and I added a mini humidifier to make it a bit more pleasant for this plant..

My alocasia shelf in my greenhouse, plus my philodendron glorious. I went from having zero to 12 of these in a matter of months. Theyâre so amazing to watch grow! Not pictured are my cupreas, zebrina, and black stem.

Why is her leaf looking like this?

HELP! My silver dragon has inflorescences and Iâm not sure what to do. I tried looking up different videos on pollination but they all are on different Alocasia and the inflorescence look different. This is the only Alocasia I have. Should I try to save the pollen and freeze it until I have another Alocasia. Or can I pollinate the same plant?
It also looks like there is a second one about to be exposed right under the one already bloomed.
My A. lauterbachiana has been droopy lately. At first I thought it was because it couldnât support the weight of the leaves, but Iâm not sure. What do you guys think?

Why is she bleeding đđđ
Iâm not concerned about the leaf dying off lmao all the other leaves are chilling and it just made a new one so I figure itâs just part of the plantâs life cycle, BUT WHAT IS THAT???
Iâve never seen a plant bleed like that. Maybe Iâm crazy

I am considering a potting medium change for my two alocasias. My soil is currently mixed with orchid bark and perlite but Iâm thinking itâs still not chunky enough and holds a bit too much water. My ninja is looking a little depressed which is why I am thinking about this, though it may still be acclimating. Anyone have any recommendations? I am contemplating leca but feel like I see mixed things on it. Or would just adding more bark/perlite be the easier answer?
