Hi! Quick question: does anyone have an alocasia flying squid and is it finicky? Iâve stayed away from alocasia since I really struggled and killed a silver dragon and dragon scale and a Polly back to back a few years ago. But now Iâm eyeing the flying squid. I wanna get one because theyâre so goofy looking but Iâve got alocasia ptsd and Iâm scared Iâll just kill this too đSomeone talk me out of buying it. Or into it đ

Is this new growth on my alocasia or is it roots ? đ also I have her domed off is that ok ? Sheâs my first ! đ
Does anyone know whatâs wrong with my Alocasia regal shield? I checked for spider mites but I donât see any. Iâm not sure if they are there but I canât see them or if itâs something else. Thanks!
QUESTIONSSSSSSSSS 1. Whatâs the best way to get rid of spider mites? 2. I just got an Alocasia albino arrow. What are some tips to keep it alive?
My husband brought this Alocasia home from Lowes yesterday and itâs my first one. I changed the pot and soil, gave it a good wash down with my neem oil/alcohol mix, and set it up away from all my other plants in case it has pests! Since itâs in a rather dark area, I put it under a grow light. Will this be ok for it? Iâm not sure how much light it needs.
Brought this little baby home from my office because it lost two of its three leaves. I guess sitting outside the laundry room works for itâŠnew leaf alert!!!
Hi friends, this is my Pink Dragon! Iâm new to this but Iâve had it for a couple months and itâs growing really well. Iâm starting to notice that there are roots poking out of the drainage holes. should I repot into a pot that is 2â bigger (like usual for most plants) or even bigger than that? TIA!
LOOK AT THAT TEXTURE đ€©đ€© I have been looking to add another alocasia to my collectionâ Melo being one of them so I couldnât pass it up!
I got this dragon scale from Loweâs and it was very parched. I left it my window for a few days and it the leaves got burnt. I have since moved it into a terrarium with bright indirect light. Itâs doing much better and put out a big beautiful leaf. Should I cut off one or all of the burnt leaves or just leave it as is? This is my first alocasia so donât have much experience.
Has anyone ever seen this before? What's happening? I had to move it to a new outside position because the first leaf was completely scorched and looked terrible. We've had two stormy nights afterwards. Its bent to the side. Does it mean its too heavy?
Got a list plant yesterday! Itâs so cool!
Do you guys think that I can use âEdna's best potting soilâ (indoor and outdoor) to repot my alocasia silver dragon? Btw got this baby plant for $4 at Trader Joeâs!
Because of the weather, my poor Emerald Edge aka Alocasia scalprum is dying. Itâs pretty much on life support right now. It didnât help that I transplanted it in âtropical soilâ(which already has a little bit of moisture) and put in a LITTLE bit of water in it and became PRACTICALLY waterlogged leading to root rot. Then I had to clean the out, but then with the A/C being on and the humidity practically being sucked out the air it got to the way it is in the picture below. For me and my room, the alocasia scalprum does well. But the care for it like its predecessor alocasia dragon scale is still VERY strict. It MUST be moist, be wary of the soil you give it even when it claims to be for âtropical plantsâ, if A/C will be used (if an indoor plant) put it under a ziploc bag (WITH holes), and of COURSE be wary of the humidity of your room. Iâm already looking to buy a new Alocasia scalprum, but Iâm going to miss THIS one and Iâm not going to give up on the Alocasia plant species. Just gotta find the right one for me and my room! PS: Yeah I know I have a new leaf TRYING bud, but I donât think it will make it out on timeđą
Can someone help I.D. this?!
Got this BEAUTY from ikea a few days ago, put it in leca like my other alocasias, and took it out today to check progress (since I know most of the roots will rot while transitioning to water). But I clearly put too much water in the pot because the bulb is rotted now!!! So mad at myself! Iâve used hydrogen peroxide to help kill the rot, and am going to let it dry for a while. Any other tips? Iâm so sad! Hopefully this baby will pull throughđ€đŒ
Hi everyone! I have this beautiful Alocasia that my cat got into unfortunately :( there were three perfect leaves and she ate half of two of them, one of which has died and fallen off. The other is still on the plant but now the good leaf is turning brown, does anyone know what this could be? I did just start her in a hydroponic set up a few weeks ago, any advice?
I had a rough start with my alocasias. I thought both of these were goners but I cut them both a while ago and left them in the pots. And they slowly started to grow new leaves. Now they are thriving! So excited to see them continue to grow!
So Iâve got some corms. How long until they do something? Bc it feels like after a month, SOMETHING shouldâve happened by now lol.
Just got my dream Alocasia!!!!!
Oh my god! Iâve never seen these before. I assume these are flowers. Do you guys know if I should just cut it off or let it be? Itâs really cool though!
