Guidance, please. I have a long root growing out of the bottom of the pot of my tiny dancer. Repot? Leave it alone? I’m low key terrified of repotting her because she is currently very happy.

Baby Alocasia Frydek. My husband left the door open so she is being dramatic about the cold. I moved her into the cabinet for the winter.

My plant has been doing great I repotted put her in a draining pot and chunky soil by a humidifier and the last couple of weeks. I’ve noticed her starting to brown and the tips drying out and curling any idea on what this is. I checked thoroughly and I don’t see any infestation, but some leaves do have tiny spots where it looks like it was poked

My first Alocasia Dragon Scale yesterday!! Bought off of Palmstreet. Got a new leaf and new shoot!

Just purchased this Alocasia, labeled amazonica, but looks like ninja, does anyone have this version, if so do you think it is. It’s only small in 5cm pot so leaves are small at the moment but ai searches say it’s ninja and I’ve looked at some ninja pictures and looks the same, some ninjas have a darker leave or variegated, but does look darker in the middle , so with age I think may go blackish

So I hope I didn’t make a big mistake BUT….. Today I watched several Alocasia care videos on YouTube and I repotted my two alocasias - variegated frydek and mint green dragon scale. I used a method I watched where she used a bottom layer of about 2 cm of leca, a thin layer of sphagnum moss, an aroid mix with the plant roots and then another thin layer of moss on top. It needs to be in a cover bowl with water as high as the bottom leca layer. The girl in the video had gorgeous Alocasia so I hope it works. I’ll definitely post updates. They still look perky so I hope they do OK. Now I think I should flush it out with water once a week and then change the water in the cover bowl. Does that sound correct? I guess if they start to fade I could just replant them in a chunky mix.

I plan to eventually repot my two new alocasias. In your experience, what is the best method? I’ve watched several videos on YouTube that suggest semi-hydro, but I’ve read that a special soil mix from oh happy plants might be better? I’m a little concerned that hydro could smell once the algae develops?

I have had a Mickey Mouse for about a month now. Twice it has put out a new leaf, but the oldest leaf always turns yellow and dies once the new one starts to unfurl. Is that common? Is there anything i should be doing for it?

Love the variegation on this leaf. Got a new leaf popping out. I added a support stick yesterday as one of the stems were leaning wayyyyyy over. Not sure what’s up with that.

hello alocasia community! i’ve had to repot my alocasia “frydek” variegation and wanted to show off its roots :) look at the corms forming!!! i’ve already cut 3 and placed them in a jar with some water and saran wrap around the top. is there any suggestions on how to propagate these babies?? tyia!

Allow me to introduce you to my two new plant friends! I got them in the mail today from BWH and they are stunning! Frodo is a variegated Frydek and I’m so excited because he also has two new leaves that will hopefully be OK and open soon (since he was shipped I worry about any shipping trauma.) Smaug is a mint variegated green dragon scale mint. I’m thrilled with them. Anyone have any alocasia tips?

This plant seemed to be very happy until today… very sudden drooping! The newest leaf / stem (the one in front, facing the camera) was more upright like the other two until today. I water when the soil is pretty much dried out, not sure if I’ve ever fertilized yet (bought it in the last month or two), and it always sits here by the window which gets direct sunlight a few hours a day. Is this normal giant alocasia behavior or is something maybe wrong?

Repot day for my Polly, Silver Dragon and Miri. I love recycling the cost farms self watering pots. The Silver Dragon and Miri were rescues from Lowe’s that had spider mites. They have done very well since getting treated and the Silver Dragon is even throwing a new leaf. I usually wait to repot once the leaf is in, but the soil it was in was horrible and staying way too wet.

Scored at Trader Joe’s today but I’m just not positive on what these two are other than Alocasia I think the one with the white veins is a Polly tho

My poor Dragon’s Tooth arrived with a stake through the leaf. Should I cut this leaf off or will it scar up and survive? I have never had an Alocasia with such bad damage before.
