Excalibur, my Alocasia purple sword, is dancing around with his new leaf…I move him to where I think the light will bent things back, but it’s a tough battle…any suggestions? I have bonsai wire?

What are people’s thoughts on stores putting mesh around alocasias roots? I’ve been moving my alocasia from soil to pon, and removing the mesh is so difficult and tedious. Tips on how to remove it easier?

Dearest alocasia parents with experience My cuprea is putting out a bunch of inflorescences (I think that’s the term) and this one was stuck shut for the most part. It’s been that way for over a week so I opened it and this dried out nasty thang broke off from the inside, leaving what appears to be “fruits” inside the modified leaf. The last picture is the the newest “open” flower and it looks stuck still but less rotten than the first one. What’s going on? Is it a symptom of another issue or just something that happens? (Also please ignore the burnt leave edges, it was like that when I bought it and I haven’t had the heart to chop off the leaves yet, I’m scared)

I figured this group would appreciate this since alocasia and colocasia are both Araceae and colocasia are just the swampy version of alocasia. I just found this site called Lunar Tropicals that has rare colocasia for sale right now and a lot of them are black. I ordered these 3 as established plants in 6” pots for what I think is a very reasonable price per plant. I will update you all with the results when they arrive. Does anybody have any care tips as these will be my first colocasia, although there’s hundreds of native ones in my apartment complex along the edges of the lake and in backyards so I shouldn’t have difficulty.

I bought this Alocasia the other day and am now getting around to adding it into my app but planta doesn’t seem to be letting me out the species as the one on the tag??? The most accurate appearing option seems to be a ‘lowii’ If it’s mislabeled or someone knows how to fix this please let me know!! I’m determined to have a good Alocasia 🥲my other 2 are hanging on by a thread

What’s going on with my regal shield?

Hello! I have three lovely alocasias, which are doing okay… but they’re not thriving. I’m really considering to moving them into leca and moss, but don’t want to disturb them and risk killing them! One has a very droopy yellow leaf that’s going to come off and another has a little bit of a sad one too. Any advice? I’m a fairly beginner plant mother but would love to explore leca and moss if it’s worth it

I feel like this app classifies every alocasia as an elephant Ear. Where does the term "Elephant Ear" come from, is it just a common name and not necessarily the scientific name? What kind of Alocasia is pictured below? The app has classified it as an elephant ear.

Falcor’s newest leaf is looking great! The front is beautiful, of course! The back tho!!! I love looking at the light coming thru all of the happy veins! I sit and imagine what it would look like if I was able to see the photosynthesis party that is going on!!!🪴🥳

Falcor is quickly becoming my favorite! (Don’t tell Herman or Elmer!!!🤫) As an overly protective plant parent the yellow tip has me worried. It is on the back facing smaller leaf…so maybe natural aging!? Does the new leaf in the full plant picture look like it’s on schedule? Thank you for any advice!🪴🤩
