What are people’s thoughts on stores putting mesh around alocasias roots? I’ve been moving my alocasia from soil to pon, and removing the mesh is so difficult and tedious. Tips on how to remove it easier?

    They are absolutely not my favorite. That's why I personally try to buy alocasias from people's collection rather than the store so I don't have to deal with those. I've found them easier to remove after soaking the root ball in water. It re-hydrates the roots as well and makes them a bit more about flexible. But I'm usually not delicate about it so I pull on them 😂 with a good lighting, alocasias are really resilient.

      I definitely rip some roots off, but it’s for a good cause 😅😅

    Soak in water and remove little by little

      this is what I’ve found works best but I was hoping someone had a hack I was unaware of 😭😭

    scissors. i'm never gentle, i tug it right off. super annoying. root traps suck

      Thankfully they usually rip fairly easily, but the mesh sometimes looks like the roots🥲
