Because of the weather, my poor Emerald Edge aka Alocasia scalprum is dying. Itâs pretty much on life support right now. It didnât help that I transplanted it in âtropical soilâ(which already has a little bit of moisture) and put in a LITTLE bit of water in it and became PRACTICALLY waterlogged leading to root rot. Then I had to clean the out, but then with the A/C being on and the humidity practically being sucked out the air it got to the way it is in the picture below. For me and my room, the alocasia scalprum does well. But the care for it like its predecessor alocasia dragon scale is still VERY strict. It MUST be moist, be wary of the soil you give it even when it claims to be for âtropical plantsâ, if A/C will be used (if an indoor plant) put it under a ziploc bag (WITH holes), and of COURSE be wary of the humidity of your room. Iâm already looking to buy a new Alocasia scalprum, but Iâm going to miss THIS one and Iâm not going to give up on the Alocasia plant species. Just gotta find the right one for me and my room! PS: Yeah I know I have a new leaf TRYING bud, but I donât think it will make it out on timeđą
Can someone help I.D. this?!
Got this BEAUTY from ikea a few days ago, put it in leca like my other alocasias, and took it out today to check progress (since I know most of the roots will rot while transitioning to water). But I clearly put too much water in the pot because the bulb is rotted now!!! So mad at myself! Iâve used hydrogen peroxide to help kill the rot, and am going to let it dry for a while. Any other tips? Iâm so sad! Hopefully this baby will pull throughđ€đŒ
Hi everyone! I have this beautiful Alocasia that my cat got into unfortunately :( there were three perfect leaves and she ate half of two of them, one of which has died and fallen off. The other is still on the plant but now the good leaf is turning brown, does anyone know what this could be? I did just start her in a hydroponic set up a few weeks ago, any advice?
I had a rough start with my alocasias. I thought both of these were goners but I cut them both a while ago and left them in the pots. And they slowly started to grow new leaves. Now they are thriving! So excited to see them continue to grow!
So Iâve got some corms. How long until they do something? Bc it feels like after a month, SOMETHING shouldâve happened by now lol.
Just got my dream Alocasia!!!!!
Oh my god! Iâve never seen these before. I assume these are flowers. Do you guys know if I should just cut it off or let it be? Itâs really cool though!
Well I purchased a this Alocasia Green Unicorn (azlanii x dragon scale) online from Canopy Plant Co. and it arrived sad, dry and with brown/yellow spots all over the leaves⊠so sad. Iâve watered it and sprayed for pests to see if it can just slightly recover in quarantine then will try the chunky soil mix. Wondering what those spots are?
omg my african mask has its first bloom đ« what do i do???? iâm so excitedđ
Can anyone tell me what type of Alocasia this is?
Help! My Alocasia African Mask definitely has spider mites and she is my favorite plant! What do I do? I just noticed this today and checking the rest of my plants for them.
Question! Is this new leaf ok or does it need assistance? It started to bend today not sure if thats ok and it looks like is still pretty far in there while starting to unfurlâŠ? I have been spraying it with water to help it đ€·đœââïž

Iâm so happy guysss Iâm like 103% sure this is a flower and Iâm just so honored to get my first Alocasia bloom both my Alocasiaâs have been doing so well!!
I have a silver dragon. Not sure how I keep it alive honestly đ seeing every oneâs having babies. Iâm wondering if mine has any. Iâm honestly scared to disturb it just to check. Do you guys think she may have babies? I have had her almost a year! My goodness I didnât know that I had it that long.
A couple months ago I repotted my alocasia amazonica thinking she wouldnât grow because the dirt was too heavy, which I was correct in thinking. I pulled off a smaller leaf that had its own root system and it sprouted a second leaf! All 22 corms got moldy while trying to propagate them so I threw all but one of them out. Two months of being in dirt the corm sprouted! Now my parent alocasia has the first leaf sprout itâs ever had in the six months Iâve had her! Iâm so excited! đ€©đ€©đ€©
