Starting this cute little H. Rubida cutting in perlite. Not a medium I choose too often but for some reason decided to throw one in it this time. This is one of six. The others are in a mixture of coco chips, coco peat and perlite with some fluval.

if you were browsing this group over the winter you may recall my hoya wayetii had a brush with death. i lost most of the plant since, but two remaining pieces are rooted in perlite with some macrophyllum cuttings, and growing steadily. hopefully we’ll have new leaves soon too 🤞🏻

Two of my Hoya Mathilde cuttings put out about 2 to 3 peduncles each for the first time. I about 90% sure they cross pollinated with the Hoya Lacunosa they are hanging near. The Hoya Wayetti ( not Kentiana) put out a second peduncle. The Hoya Lacunosa dropped its only seed pod. I’m not sure if the pod matured enough to produce viable seeds. East morning sun and high humidity is a must to get my hoyas to bloom. I just put the Mathildes in that location less than a month ago. The ones inside under a big grow light and in lower humidity are only putting out new leaves. 🌸

Does anyone use Molly’s mix for their Hoyas? I only have that ready at the moment, but I do have perlite and orchid bark to add to the fox farms soil I have. Thanks for any help!

What’s everyone’s favorite brand or mix of soil for Hoyas? I have a carnosa, and just used a mix of MiracleGro Indoor Plant, perlite and MiracleGro Orchid Bark, but I’m aure there are better soils out there…. Picture of my cutting for attention.

I can’t quite seem to capture the beauty of Hoya leucantha but the combination of the delicate, elongated leaves with the venation and sunstressing is magical! I’ll have to get a camera and try plant photography to capture this beauty 😅 the leaves are so delicate and elongated that the camera has difficulty focusing!

Hello! I had no idea this group existed. I’m glad it does! I rescued this guy last fall, 2023, from Lowe’s discount rack. He spent as much time outdoors on the East side of a North/South Street maybe till early December since it was nice out last fall. The sun is normally down by 3PM for the location. After that I brought the plant indoors for the winter. It was a struggle. Leaves dropped daily. By March 1st I was glad to put it out doors in the sun. I reported it in May or June of this year too. So the plant is not yet a year old in my possession and is surviving and has a small burst of flowers coming. He sits in my back yard at at 10:30 AM is still in the shade. He willl get mostly noon sun. Does the plant do better with Morning Sun, Noon Sun, or Afternoon sun? What can I do to make it stronger?

My Hoya Imperialis (white) are on a growth spurt. I got both last September. They are still in their original 3 inch pots. It’s time to repot both into a 5 inch pot because they are top heavy and require water every 3 or 4 days. There are no aerial roots as they grow more like shrubs with upright growth unlike the typical hoya. The flowers are huge and come in pink, red and white. These have not bloomed yet.

Does anyone keep their hoya outside during the summer? I’ve heard that it can be good for them and encourage flowering but I’m scared about pests. Anyone have any experience they’re willing to share??

Hello! I got a few new plants while traveling last week. I have them quarantined currently. I sprayed them down with neem oil. I have heard Hoya compacta are prone to pests. I only got a small piece so I am hoping for advice/suggestions on how to best care for it. TIA! 😁

Just wanting to double-check I’m doing this right. Mr Hoya (I’m not sure which specific species, so probably carnosa?) has been handed down through the generations — we are at least certain that the original plant dates back to the 1920s and my great-grandmother, but I’m not sure if this is a propagation from the original. If this is the original, my dad said he could be a generation or two older. He’s always been kept in humid places like New York, Minnesota and Northern Virginia. My parents have been stationed in the UK for 3 years, so now it’s my turn to care for Mr Hoya. My parents just shipped him 1700 mi to me in Colorado. They also say that he hadn’t been repotted in 10 years, and was suffering from “benign neglect”. 🥴 He was watered every 6 days when with my parents, but since it’s significantly drier here, should I water more often? I also am willing to mist him as needed. He’s potted in a 10” pot with 2(ish) parts indoor potting soil, 1 part perlite, and 1 part orchid bark because I’m slightly terrified that I’ll drown him by accident. I also got him a wall trellis, but my mom says he’s never been super interested in climbing… Any advice? I feel like I got thrown in the deep end, as a certified black thumb.
