Hello! I got a few new plants while traveling last week. I have them quarantined currently. I sprayed them down with neem oil. I have heard Hoya compacta are prone to pests. I only got a small piece so I am hoping for advice/suggestions on how to best care for it. TIA! 😁

I’m also new to the hoya compacta. The advice I got from the plant store was to spray it with a neem oil solution, weekly, with special attention to the crevices and folds. I’ve also heard that you can treat them, monthly. 🤷‍♀️ If you have yours in a place where it gets a little direct sun, it’s best to treat them in the very early morning or in the evening to keep the treated leaves from getting burned by the sun when wet. The below pest-prevention solution was originally posted by PlantyAnn. Her recommendation was to use microfiber gloves to wipe leaves and stems, monthly. I don’t know about wiping the hoya compacta stems as they seem fuzzy. Homemade Insecticidal Soap Recipe 6 cups water 2 Tablespoons castile soap 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol 1 teaspoon hydrogen peroxide 10 drops peppermint essential oil 10 drops tea tree essential oil All the best on your hoya compacta journey! Please share your lovely friend’s progress so we can celebrate her beauty with you!

I had mealies on my compacta when i first got it. i fully submerged the plant (roots and all) into insecticidal soap and water for 30 minutes. haven't seen a bug on it since. This was back around January.
