My first pepper!! When should I harvest it?

    Jalapeños are a little harder because they are green. Most peppers I wait until they change colors. For jalapeños I normally let it grow until I get little splits on the pepper like this. Jalapeños will turn red if you leave them on longer and there is nothing wrong with that either. I think the flavor changes a little, more spicy and sweet.

    honestly this might be one of your only peppers this season, when peppers flower that early you’re meant to pinch them off because it promotes more growth and bigger flowering branches. you also have a risk of the pepper weighing down such a small plant and snapping the stem. however, i think this one pepper will be fine and if you take care of it i’m sure you can get more peppers this season. the more you know!

    Yea always top the first set of flowers but for some reason seeing a small plant with fruits is amazing to me. They get right to it! Here’s mine from last year after I topped and trimmed them the first few months.
