Wanted to share my journey over the course of the last year with succulents.
This is my favorite species, Echeveria Etna. It was magnificent and beautiful when I first purchased it last winter, but itâs gone through many stages and rough patches. Living in Northeastern Ohio, we donât have the right climate for outdoor succulent growing, so I kept this individual in the brightest Western window, but noticed it was still not enough light. To make matters worse, it garnered my Catâs attention after becoming etiolated and was brutally mauled by the little house tiger.
After salvaging the plant, I said enough was enough and moved it to a safer room. I decided the beheaded piece was worth saving, so I stuck it with my Echeveria âPearl Von Nurnbergâ and Echeveria agavoides that both werenât doing well. Gave all the succulents little LED grow lights, but they werenât bright enough so I had really slow growth and they still remained green.
After much trial and error, Iâve had luck with a stronger LED bulb and itâs gotten some of its stress color back. Now that the beheaded piece and the original specimen have shown a lot of growth, Iâm proud to show off the progress made.
Iâve learned a lot about succulents since last year, and Iâd like to tell anyone whoâll listen that setbacks are learning experiences! Donât give up on your sun-loving babies, theyâll reward you for your patience and care!

Update! Got the succulent and cactus repotted. How much sun do they need? I face the north so I never have direct sunlight. But it looks like this majority of the day, getting indirect sunlight as shown. Is this enough? Or should I move it closer to the window?

Hello! New here! Also very very new to plants. Got this one the other day. How often would you guys recommend watering this?

How should I repot this? A well meaning friend got me this gift, but thereâs no drainage hole and Iâm sure they all have different light/water requirements so Iâd like to get them into a better pot and/or separate as necessary. Help! Thank you!

Been working on developing this succulent tower for about a year now. The tower is an old display from a store I got on marketplace. I am working now on making a rainbow mosaic on the outside so I canât see the dirt all the time. Long project but I think itâs coming along well. I planted a bunch of different Stapelia and Huernia that will eventually trail down the sides. Once spring starts here the sun will be very welcome on the far side of the planter again. Itâs been a pretty cloudy winter this year.

hey guys! iâm in need some advice.
this is my boy curtis :D (the smiley is part of his name, legally). ever since he got over 4 or 5 inches heâs had a little bit of a curve. i try to rotate his pot every once in a while to keep him decently even. maybe iâve been slacking on the rotation lately, and but iâve never seen him curve this much. iâm not ashamed of his phallicness, he just has a bit of weight to him now so iâm a bit worried about him toppling over.
besides turning him around to curve the other way now, is there anything i can do to help encourage him to straighten out?
thank you in advance for any tips!

Hi, this cactus was the bottom portion of a grafted plant. I chopped off the top portion (I know what it is), but not sure what this is. Plant ID apps arenât helping probably because it doesnât look right since it was chopped. And yes, that is part of the stick that held them together that is poking out of the top đŹ TIA

Hey there, can anyone help me identify this plant? It was a gift and I believe, from what little info I have found, its a Turtle Vine (Callisia Repens). Can anyone confirm? Much appreciated.

Hey everyone! My jade plant has a little guy growing in this spot where a leaf sort of separated from the stem. Can I remove it? Is it best to leave it there?

Hi all! I got this today as it was on sale and needs a bit of TLC! Can anyone tell me what this is? Am I right in thinking itâs some sort of variegated snake plant? Thank you đđŒ

Iâm not sure if itâs dead or dormant đ€

Heâs a king! My friend got this guy for me for Christmas. And he is so pretty in morning light, so photogenic! Anyone else got a baby Polaskia chichipe?

Hey, I'm wondering if my cactus is ok, there's this weird white spot on its cut. It had rot and I removed it and sprayed fungicide and let it callous over and it was doing very well and it even started flowering but now I noticed there was this white thing. The flower it had has also began to wilt, but I just assumed that was because it went it's course because I know some cacti flowers only last a few days/weeks, is that right?
