Last Monday my boyfriend left for vacation and I was asked to watch his dogs. I said yes and I was supposed to watch them for a week. Before I left I asked my mom if she could watch my plant and she said yes. I showed her how to take care of the plant and I gave her specific instructions. Water the plant with the distilled water I left, only fill the bowl when it’s empty, keep the plant under sunlight and no more than and inch or less of water (I even showed her the amount). She said that she had it and that I could leave the plant so I did. I asked her everyday if she was doing okay with the plant and she would say yes. Yesterday I came home and I found my plant like this… the bowl was almost completely filled up and the water was brown. The new leaves that are supposed to sprout are brown, the stem is brown, the leaves around it are brown, some are even black. And the dew drops are completely dried up.. I- I’m only mad at myself for not taking the plant with me but it is what it is. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what to do or what could have happened to my plant? Could it have been over watered? Or maybe she added the wrong water? I was planning on leaving it out to dry out a little bit and then adding it back into distilled water and keeping it under the sun. I hope the black and brown pieces can be saved :( most likely not. These are before and after pictures btw

Any tips because some traps aren’t closing and some are closing way to slow like it took 15 minutes just for it to close the tiniest bit

Just got a Venus flytrap any tips also I’ve been making my own distilled water. Do you think it’ll work? It’s made out of normal water bottles, but I leave it out so it’s room temperature. Also, I will go by distilled water later

My little butterwort is going to give me a flower!❤️ He got a little banged up during shipping, I couldn’t find one locally to me, and I thought for a while he was going to drop all his leaves. Right now I’m very hopefully because there are new shoots underneath the larger leaf on the left and it looks like it’s going to give me a flower!

I repotted my pitcher plant using carnivorous plant soil. Was that okay to do? Also, I have it in a north facing window. It’s been there about a month and has been doing fairly well. I just feel bummed that I haven’t seen any new pitchers since I first bought it. Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

My pitcher plant grows these nubs then they stay like that. Do I cut them all off? Will they grow back? We have rainstorms every afternoon If I put it outside it will get more sun but won’t that be too much water?
